Ceres Food × Film The Ceres Food Film Festival (CFFF, formerly known as Faces of Hunger) is an annual event dedicated to exploring the complexity of food systems worldwide.

The Ceres Food Film Festival is a global platform that promotes food sustainability by driving awareness and engagement, culminating in an annual film festival. Ceres is a global platform that promotes food sustainability by driving awareness and engagement, culminating in an annual film festival. We are building a global community of storytellers that values and champions a sustainable, integrative, and curious approach to our shared food ecosystem. CFFF was created by Palms for Life Fund, a NYC-based non-profit that works globally with organizations on the ground to provide access to food, water, education, and sanitation. We have set up mobile libraries for underserved children in Ecuador, brought literacy to women farmers in Burkina Faso, and built toilets in Nicaragua to improve school sanitation. With a grant from the European Union, we are now providing sustainable, quality services to the most vulnerable children in Swaziland. Learn more via: https://www.palmsforlifefund.org/

Food carries stories of where we come from, where we go, and what we bring with us. 🌎

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re revisiting two films from a previous Ceres Food Film Festival season that explore the connections between food, migration and memory.

Through EAT and Arepas en Bici, we reflect on how food carries history, preserves traditions and connects us to our roots, even as we build lives in new places.

Explore the stories behind the food. If you get the chance, these two films are worth seeking out for the ways they explore food, cultural identity and the traditions we carry with us.

Coming soon to the Ceres Collection: “One of a Kind” by dir.

In a garden shed filled with cobwebs and forgotten materials, retired artisan Antoine gives discarded objects a second life, shaping them into one-of-a-kind knives for some of the world’s finest kitchens.

One of a Kind follows the making of a single blade, from Antoine’s workshop to the kitchen of Michelin-starred chef Kobe Desramault, offering a quiet portrait of craftsmanship, trust, and the beauty hiding in the overlooked.

A film about what we choose to value, and the possibilities that emerge when we look at something twice before writing it off.

We had such an incredible night at .One last night, and it was all thanks to the wonderful people who showed up for an evening inspired by a tomato. 🍅 Who would have thought a tomato could bring so many people together?

We were so grateful for the delightful food from Local Roots NYC | farm to table experiences, alongside delicious drinks and mocktails from Joe McDowell of Acid Spirits. Our wonderful panel conversation with Wen-Jay | food founder and Joe, moderated by Jerusha K, opened up a thoughtful discussion around the many facets of food that we don’t always consider when sitting down to a meal.

And, of course, the films made the evening complete: Amoris Pomum by Felipe Sanguinetti, A Failure of the Imagination by Matt Hopkins, and Fragmentos de Mar by Wolf Lass.

A perfect gathering of food lovers, enthusiasts, and food activists from across New York City. Thank you for being part of it. ❤️

Stay tuned for more from the evening, including photos, and subscribe to hear about upcoming Ceres events and more news from us.

At Ceres, everything begins with care: for the food that sustains us, the people and communities who make it possible, the filmmakers who bring food stories to life, and the generations who will inherit these stories and systems.

Through film and conversation, we create space to look more closely at the relationships between food, people, and the world around us. What began as a festival has grown into a community where questions linger long after the credits roll.

Thank you for watching, questioning, sharing, and being part of this journey. We’re so grateful to have you at the table.

Stay tuned for more!

RAMINI by Subei.

Every meal begins with a relationship.

At Ramini Mozzarella in Tomales Bay, California, RAMINI invites us to slow down and consider everything that comes before the food on our plate—the care for the land, the animals, and the people who make it possible. Through the quiet rhythms of a water buffalo farm, the film offers a thoughtful reflection on where our food comes from and the connections that nourish us long before we eat.

We’re delighted to welcome RAMINI to the Ceres Collection as part of our exploration of Food Before the Plate.
