On July 26, we’re bringing Field Day back to Bed-Stuy to celebrate twenty years of place-based creativity and community-building.

You’re invited to join Bed-Stuy artists, vendors, and neighbors for a joyful gathering that honors the neighborhood’s strong cultural bedrock and the community that continues to strengthen it.

Since 2013, Create Change artists have co-produced Field Day as neighborhood artmaking spaces that affirm the ideas, experiences, and stories of local artists, youth, elders, and working people. From Harlem to the Bronx to our beloved Storefront in Bed-Stuy, creativity and community relationships have taken root in everyday spaces across New York City, including in neighborhood parks!

For the last twenty years, we’ve embodied : gathering, connecting, and making art that resonates with the neighborhoods we call home. From recorded stories to community murals, our Field Day activations have always reflected the artists and neighbors who shape abundant futures through creativity.

You’re invited to live out that legacy with us at this year’s Field Day celebration! Hit the link below to learn more and register for Field Day. Stay tuned to meet our partners and vendors!

What if technology is more than the 1s and 0s that power global industries?

Could technology live in the body?
A drum?
A prayer?
A light source?

Find out at First Fridays! Register at the link below!

First Fridays with Mz. Icar invite us to open new creative portals using technology steeped in culture, no matter the medium. Through monthly gatherings, we’ve enjoyed thrilling sound and tech activations that ask us to dig into the cultural wisdom and arts practices that have lasted for generations. Whether we sit together in a drum circle or bend frequencies using our voices, the Spring Lib Series has been our space to translate Bed-Stuy’s growing community archive into soundtracks of possibility, one rhythm at a time.

For this culminating celebration, we’re remixing the series into a final audio piece with Mz. Icar, paired with projected visuals from their "Legendary" window installation, to honor the voice, rhythm, and light of the community.

We will be joined by guest facilitator Raquel Rosario, a senior teacher and sadhaka (initiate) of the ISHTA lineage. Raquel's classes balance the physical poses of hatha yoga with the energetic interplay of ta***ic philosophy and ayurveda, the life science that supports self-healing, authentic connection with others, and the formation of a balanced community.

Bring a friend and celebrate with us!

Because our greatest technology is US. 🔊

🔊 Bed Stuy has always carried a soul-stirring rhythm. Whether we find it at block parties, on train platforms, in church choirs, or in cyphers at the park, we’re always swimming in the creative vibrations of a legendary neighborhood.

Throughout this year’s Liberation Series, Mz. Icar has opened new portals at The LP Storefront, bringing our neighbors together through the magic of sound. Since February, we’ve stood together in the booth as culture met community, from lively drum circles, to nourishing meals, to rhythms woven into community stories…one bangin’ verse at a time.🎙️🥁

As we reach the final stop of our sonic journey together for Spring, we’re asking you to crank up the speaker and celebrate with us! You’re invited to honor the voice, rhythm, and light of the community, closing our portal with a collective moment of reflection and futurity. Here’s where we’ll be:

🗓️ Friday, June 5

📍 The LP Storefront

Enjoy delicious free food, a dope set by DJ Amore Querida , and connect with community sound archivists of all ages.

Song: “Youngest Elders” by Mz. Icar

05/21/2026

Earlier in April, we interviewed 2026 Create Change Fellow Nasrah Omar during our Create Change Lab retreat — her spirit still alive with the day's fullness. We invite you into that moment and ask you to consider how you, too, can nurture the soil that allows such conversations—and transformations—to take root.

By contributing even $10, you are making these moments of connection, reflection, and collective imagination possible.

What Nasrah describes in this video is more than a takeaway. It is a way forward. This work blooms layer by layer — artists, community, and donors all tending something essential.

☀️ This summer, you’re invited to stretch your creativity alongside our Fellows, who will present their artistic activations and share creative tools and practices for liberation at Field Day 2026! Stay tuned for updates.

💬 Let us know in the comments: What parts of Nasrah’s reflection resonate with you? What does a community rooted in mutual care feel–or look–like to you?

Before we used software, we used:

The body.
The drum machine.
Our collective voice.

Mz. Icar traces the full lineage, and Bed Stuy's frequency is the proof. 🖤

Thank you for traversing limitless sonic possibilities at our Spring Liberation Series. Let’s make one last stop in our sonic journey together before we break for summer! Save the date for our Closing Celebration on Friday, June 5, at The LP Storefront!

✨About the Liberation Series✨

The Liberation Series is a monthly artist-led gathering. On the first Friday of each month, we bring neighbors of all ages into The LP Storefront for communal artmaking, shared meals spotlighting local vendors, friendly dialogue, and reflections on how freedom shows up in our everyday lives.

In 2026, we’ve had the honor to present the artist collective Mz. Icar, who is activating in The LP Storefront each first Friday from February to June 2026. Extending the spirit of their current installation in our Storefront window, “Legendary,” Mz. Icar presents “Sonic Portals,” a five-part program that filters the sonic practices, archives, and remix culture of Black diasporic movement.
