everyone keep in mind on new years eve, if you choose to drink and drive, you are not only putting your life at risk, you are putting everyone elses at risk as well. you are putting other drivers at risk, you are putting fire fighters lives at risk to get out in the weather we are expected to get, you are putting ems workers at risk to come work the accident you are likely to be in because of your decision, you are putting officers lives at risk to come and work in this weather as well and to haul you to jail because you probably wont have any injuries because you will be limp from the alcohol. then your families lives will be forever changed from your choices, other families lives will be forever changed for your choices, so lets just make the right ones and DONT DRINK AND DRIVE. stay safe so we all can enjoy our families and start the new year out right.

ok, i have been radio silent on here but i am here to honor my friend, my partner on the dept til i retired, my best friends husband, and a leader. Gene Karr fought a battle of which as a firefighter nobody would want to fight... , It wasn't on a fire call, it was just an accident and yes, it happened and we will never know why but it did and now all we have are those beautiful memories of that man overflowing in our brains. Yesterday, as i was walking up to the Fire Dept to lower the flag, i was crying and looking at it waving in the wind and thinking about just life. I had already removed my flags at my house in his honor and was just going to lower the House flag. While i was lowering the flag, my buddy was with me pestering me like we done each other. i was like his little gnat that he couldnt bear to swat away. when i got it lowered, i looked up and it was like it was crying with me and then it started sprinkling on me as i was walking home and the sky was the most beautiful shade of yellow and gold i have ever saw in my life. yall know what that was? I am getting on my preaching pedestal here and I am going to speak what I know that to be, that was Gene Karr telling me "hey Sharla, thank you, here is your proof i made it, see these lights? i knew you wouldnt believe me if i didnt show you crazy woman so here!!!! here it is!!!" here is a photo i asked for permission to use because i just got video and didnt think to take a still photo but this still photo does more justice to what i saw and was too scatterbrained to capture. THIS MY FRIENDS IS THE STREETS OF GOLD THAT GENE IS NOW WALKING UPON.
i miss you Gene, i will try to take care of my bestie and not corrupt her any more than i have already ;-)
