Today we hiked Lakeview Lodge Trail! We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful area.

Beavers Bend State park is literally just a couple of minutes down the road from where our Troop headquarters is located and we are always in awe of its beauty any time of the year!

We were short a few Trailmen today but we had a good day with those who were able to join in!

Our newest Trailman, who is 6 years old, did an amazing job and when asked if he wanted to do the long hike or the short hike, his answer was “The long one! What are we waiting for?!” We absolutely love his enthusiasm and everyone did great with encouraging one another when it got tough!

We all need to remember in this busy world that we must take time to slow down, enjoy God’s creation and center ourselves back into the flow and rhythm the Creator has for us. He has given us this land to enjoy and we are grateful to be in such a beautiful place!

Until our next adventure,
WALK WORTHY!

“The glory of the nation rests in the character of her men. And character comes from boyhood,” observed Herbert Hoover. But men of character don’t appear by chance. He continued, “the future is always carried forward by the boys of today.”

The work of forming boys is not a side issue. It is essential work. Boys are not problems to be managed. Their energy, competitiveness, and hunger for adventure are raw material. They need challenge. They need responsibility. They need room to fail, adjust, and try again.

In Trail Life, we are giving boys the adventure, mentorship, and brotherhood that will shape them into the kind of men our nation needs.

Trailmen are not merely learning America’s story. They are shaping it.

As we reflect upon the tragic events of 9/11 that occured 25 years ago today, we must never forget the lives that were lost and the families that were destroyed. We should never forget the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for the sake of their fellow Americans.

On that day, in the midst of the worst evil, we saw the greatest good. In those moments of terror and heart-wrenching loss, the heart of our nation was revealed. We saw many examples of men willing to step up and risk everything to save others. That is what masculine strength is. Masculine strength is bravery harnessed by wisdom, action tethered by self-restraint, self-assertion marked by self-control, and honor clothed in humility. Those are the things we must reflect on and must teach our sons and boys in our community.

Let's mold a generation of godly, courageous men. Find a Troop near you or talk with your church about bringing Trail Life to your community!
