Back to school adjustments for our youngest students!

Our Red Birds are settling into new routines, building language, learning new skills, and figuring it all out! They are named for the red bird in Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, which inspired the animal names for all of our Happy Hands classes.

At Happy Hands, we are giving our youngest students the foundation they need to flourish in school and in life.

Week one is in the books at Deaf Christian Academy!

This year brought new students to DCA, along with new teachers, new routines, and a lot of first-week energy. Here’s a look at a few of the moments from our first week back.

DCA provides a Christ-centered, bilingual education in ASL and English for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, with the goal of helping them flourish in school and in life!

We’re honored to be a contender for the 2026 Yass Prize.

The Yass Prize and STOP Awards Initiative recognizes education organizations that are Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding and Permissionless. Since 2021, the Yass Foundation for Education has awarded more than $60 million in grants, including the prestigious $1 million Yass Prize to transform education.

The mission of Happy Hands is to empower children who are Deaf or hard of hearing to flourish in school and in life. We do this by educating children, nurturing families and building hope. Being named as a contender gives us a chance to share this mission with a national audience.

A little behind-the-scenes look at the week before school started! Professional Development Week gave our staff time to learn and prepare. Then came the cleaning, organizing, and last-minute details that helped get Happy Hands and Deaf Christian Academy ready for a new school year. And finally, the fun part: welcoming students and families at Meet the Teacher Night!

VBS YAY! 🚀
Space Adventure wrapped up Friday! Our incredible staff put so much time and creativity into making this week special for our students. By Friday, everyone was exhausted, but it was well worth it.

At Happy Hands Education Center and Deaf Christian Academy, we have the privilege of equipping Deaf and hard of hearing children with the language they need to thrive. We also have the opportunity to share the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ in a language they can understand.

We’re thankful for this week, our students, and the staff who made it happen!

That’s a wrap on Summer Session! ☀️

We finished out the summer with the last day of VBS and one final water play day. It’s been a fun couple of months, and somehow, August is already here! Goodbye for now...we’ll see you back at school on August 18!
