🍂 A little sign that fall is on its way…

I at the Headgates the other day and noticed the first few leaves starting to fall onto the gravel. It’s hard to believe we’re already getting those little reminders that summer won’t last forever.

I’ve also noticed the squirrels seem to be especially busy lately, running around collecting and stashing food for the winter. 🐿️

Nature has a funny way of quietly letting us know what’s coming next. 🍁

Have you noticed any early signs of fall? I'm not sure if I'm ready yet!

🦅 Wildlife Wednesday: Bald Eagle!

Did you know Southern Wisconsin is home to a growing population of bald eagles? ❤️🤍💙 Thanks to our rivers, lakes, and abundant fish, these incredible birds can often be spotted soaring above the water or perched along the shoreline.

Next time you’re out enjoying the Sugar River or Decatur Lake, keep your eyes to the sky—you just might spot one! 🦅🌊

What’s Happening in Southern Wisconsin Right Now? 🦅

Late August is a busy time in the Wisconsin outdoors! While summer may be winding down, wildlife is gearing up for the changing season.

🦋 Monarch butterflies are fueling up on flowers like blazing star and Joe-Pye w**d before beginning their incredible migration south to Mexico.

🐦 Bird migration is beginning! Keep an eye (and ear!) out for warblers, hummingbirds, and especially Common Nighthawks swooping through the sky at dusk as they feast on insects before their journey south.

🦌 White-tailed deer fawns are becoming more independent and can often be spotted exploring away from mom.

🐇 Cottontail rabbits and squirrels are still busy raising and feeding their late-summer young.

🐉 And don't forget to watch for dragonflies, which are especially active around our lakes, rivers, and wetlands this time of year.

Late summer is full of wildlife activity if you slow down and take a look around. 🌅

Good morning!! Come join us today on the River starting at 9 am, see us in the parade at 10 am and enjoy some really good cheese curds for $5 downtown at our booth the whole day!

🌉 What a weekend at Covered Bridge Days! 🚤

We had an amazing time this past Saturday with over 130 people enjoying our pontoon boat rides on the Mill Race!

Our booth was a success too, with 50/50 raffle tickets, bourbon raffle tickets, and lots of great conversations about DLMRA. We especially loved hearing people reminisce about their adventures and memories on the Mill Race and Decatur Lake. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to our captains Allen, Chad & Frank, and to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make the weekend possible! 👏

And thank you to Brodhead Chamber of Commerce for putting on another fantastic Covered Bridge Days! 🎉

We had a blast and can't wait to see everyone again next year! 💙
