The Greater Brockton Minority Business Association (GBMBA) resumed its monthly meetings Sunday afternoon at the Cape Verdean Association headquarters, marking its first gathering since the summer break.
Several GBMBA members attended, along with a number of small business owners seeking information about possibly joining the organization, which was created three years ago during the COVID-19 crisis to support minority-owned businesses.
Christopher Cooney, president and CEO of the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, served as the guest speaker. He offered a presentation on the role of business associations and the benefits they offer to entrepreneurs and local enterprises.
Before Cooney’s remarks, Mayor-elect Moises Rodrigues addressed the audience. Speaking both as the incoming mayor of Brockton and as the executive director of the Cape Verdean Association — the organization that spearheaded the establishment of the GBMBA — Rodrigues welcomed attendees and underscored the importance of strengthening networks among minority businesses.
