It may be hard to tell whether a person is high or experiencing an overdose. If you aren’t sure, treat it as an overdose and call 911 immediately and give naloxone—you could save a life!
Help save lives – carry naloxone and learn how to use it.

Wondering what naloxone is? It is similar to an Epipen where you may not need to use it yourself, but it can save a life! Check out End Overdose for more educational material!

Ayude a salvar vidas: lleve consigo naloxona y aprenda a usarla.

The street drug supply has always been unpredictable and inconsistent, especially now with fentanyl contamination. Assume overdose is possible no matter what drug you’re using and practice harm reduction strategies consistently to reduce overdose risk.
Help save lives – carry naloxone and learn how to use it.

Synthetic opioids such as fentanyl are causing fatal overdoses much more often than other opioids such as he**in and prescription pills. The non-Hispanic Black community is being disproportionately affected by the illicit fentanyl supply. Save a life. Carry naloxone.

“Everyone wants to say it’s a crisis,” said Pinkhover, whose trailer staff routinely reverse overdoses. “[And yet,] we’re providing these really critical services in the community and we’re just constantly looking for grant funding.”

Proud of Brockton HEAL Coalition - and this lifesaving work continues to need support. Awesome to see Coalition members Allyson (and a photo of Kelly Celata) from Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, Marline Amedee from Haitian community partners, Jesse Pack from BAMSI, and Pastor Roberto (and a photo of Judy Gustafson) from Homeless Improvement Project quoted in this part 1 story on WBUR 90.9 FM- with part 2 coming out this Friday.

Armed with a $1.6 million in federal funds, advocates in Brockton set out to reduce overdose deaths by 40%. Then COVID hit, and the crisis spiraled, with fentanyl lacing drugs like crack and co***ne. Their work could become a model for what works, or doesn't, to save lives.

Fentanyl is being mixed with other drugs, like counterfeit painkillers and benzodiazepines, he**in, co***ne, and methamphetamine. This is causing an increase in overdose deaths. Naloxone is an FDA-approved medication that works to reverse an opioid overdose, including fentanyl overdose.
