On Saturday, October 10, Chapter members along with District 3 Director Catherine McCahill gathered for our October meeting and DAR Day Of Service project. For the third year we assembled 24 Birthday Cake Kits for the Hanson Food Pantry. To make the kits even more special we included decorations, plates, napkins, and more with some themes include unicords, Disney princesses, video games, dinosaurs, and more. Thank you to Rebeckah Sergi for once again leading this awesome project!

The Deborah Sampson Chapter was proud to be a 2026 New England Rodeo sponsor, with our logo featured on the rodeo website and our chapter banner displayed at the venue in Rochester, MA throughout the summer.

This past Saturday, chapter members, friends and family headed to the rodeo for the final Bulls and Barrels event of the regular season. One of our Chapter members also brought a very special guest, Mac, an America’s VetDogs trainee!

Between the barrel racing, bull riding and plenty of time together in the stands, there was no shortage of excitement!

Mac, the America's Vet Dog trainee, working with Chapter member Laurie Rice received some scratches during the New England Rodeo on Saturday night! Our Chapter is a 2026 Rodeo Season Sponsor and we kicked off our meeting year with a visit to the Rodeo this past weekend!

🇺🇸❤️ What a wonderful evening celebrating Abington’s history, community, and patriot spirit at Founders Day!

We were proud to be part of this year's festivities handing out America 250-themed giveaways, and connecting with so many members of our community.

We especially enjoyed seeing the families, local organizations, historical interpreters, and the always-entertaining costume races that brought plenty of laughs and excitement to the evening. It was wonderful to see our town come together to celebrate the people, stories, and traditions that make Abington special.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, picked up some patriotic swag, and helped make the evening such a success. Congratulations to Abington Celebrates on another amazing event! We loved being part of this community celebration and look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

📸 Enjoy a few photos from the evening!

Members of the Deborah Sampson Chapter gathered at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington to honor the brave Revolutionary War Patriots buried there by replacing their Betsy Ross flags ahead of Memorial Day.

More than 20 Revolutionary War Patriots are laid to rest at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, and it is a privilege each year to help ensure their service and sacrifice are remembered.

As we approach Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the courage of those who helped build our nation and the generations who have defended our freedoms since.

Sharing this in hopes our community can help give WWII Navy Veteran John Bernard Arnold III the respectful sendoff he deserves. John passed away on May 6, 2026, with no known family able to attend his services.

Visiting hours will be Monday, May 18th from 10:00–11:00 AM at Saint Joseph the Worker Church in Hanson, followed by an 11:00 AM funeral Mass and procession to Cedar Knoll Cemetery.

Thank you to State Representative Alyson Sullivan-Almeida for passing this information along!🇺🇸

One in seven children in Massachusetts live in poverty and struggle to pay for menstrual products. That's a real statistic, right here in our community. For teens experiencing crisis at home and involved with our state’s child welfare system, the need is even greater.
