Sometimes community support shows up wrapped in brown paper and tied with string.
This weekend, a young Seymour Library fan stopped by with homemade banana bread, handmade artwork from her younger siblings, and a very sweet offer to volunteer with the Foundation this summer.
We love seeing that kind of library enthusiasm at any age.
Thank you to this thoughtful future helper and her family for making our weekend a little brighter — and tastier.
The best kind of community support usually starts exactly like this: someone cares, someone shows up, and someone brings banana bread.💙
Productive weekend update:
Someone came over and cut down trees for me.
A brush pile was created.
A 13-year-old brought me banana bread.
That same 13-year-old also volunteered to help with After Hours @ the Library because she loves Seymour Library and was excited that an adult organization actually asked her to be involved.
Honestly, that’s pretty hard to beat.
I mean, sure, I wouldn’t turn down 78 degrees and sunny. Or another issue of Cook’s Illustrated from the library because — did you know you can borrow those?
But still.
Banana bread + library-loving teen volunteer + tiny sibling artwork = the kind of weekend that makes you think maybe the community is doing just fine after all.
And yes, the Seymour Library Foundation will absolutely find useful, age-appropriate ways for a creative 13-year-old to help. Giving Tree decorations, event signage, tent cards, maybe even a custom label design for raffle bags we technically don’t need but will definitely show off if she makes it.
Some people bring snacks.
Some people bring hope for the future.
This kid brought both.
