The American Slovak Sokol Camp, inc is the registered non-profit group that cares for this 35 acre wooded gem hidden in the heart of the city of Broadview Heighjts, Ohio. Article 1 of our charter:
"The purpose of our camp will be to preserve or Slovak ethnic heritage and cultural activities including the Arts, Music, Dance and Cusine, to promote good wholesome family values, to establish a pl
ace to hold social events and to educate members in the development of high character and ideals of good United States citizens." We are an old fashioned Party venue set back in the woods, established by a group of Slovak worsted mill workers in the same year Broadview Heights was established, 1936! Our Kitchen / Dining hall can comfortably support a group of up to 150 people should it rain, and we regularly host out-door events with over 250 people in attendance. We have a separate building known as the Dance Hall, about 30x50, {think of a barn with a basketball court floor) Small weddings use our 4 authentic church pews for their ceremony then push them aside to dance!.. Over by the Bon-fire pit, you'll find a unique Bar under the 16x24 pavillion, made for fund-raising events that feature a cash bar. A cut-out for a keg, a working sink and ice trays for a dozen cases of whatever drink you need to serve cold. With a dimmer for the lights and a Blue-tooth speaker system overhead to help to set the tone for the evening. Family Friendly Fundraisers that feature alcohol, appreciate our "Pop-Stand", another little building that sits next to our modest playground. It features serving windows looking over a bar, Kids have their own bar-stools right there, and stay "in sight but out of the way". In our little playground, you'll find a set of swings for 2 infants, another swing set with 4 swings for older kids, a slide, a see-saw and a little Playschool turtle sandbox. Older kids love that there are 2 full-time creeks crossing the property. Fully 2/3 of our property is enrolled in the Ohio Woodlands program, demonstrating our commitment to protect it from future "development". Bathroom building feature accommodations for 4 on the girls side, with 2 stalls and 3 wall urinals on the guys.
