Sign the Petition: Tell Kroger to Stop Union-Busting in Virginia!

Kroger is still refusing to recognize Virginia workers who have already signed up to join UFCW Local 400. Workers made their choice. Kroger just won't respect it.

Sign the petition and tell Kroger enough is enough:

Did you know? While most Kroger stores around the country are unionized with United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), some Kroger stores in Virginia

Known for her patience, persistence and ability to bring people together, Addie Wyatt showed us that real power comes from lifting others up.

In the 1950s, she became the first African-American woman elected President of her Chicago meatpacking local. By 1976, she'd risen to International Vice President of the UFCW, making history again as the first Black woman to hold senior leadership at both local and international levels.

But Wyatt wasn't interested in being the only one at the table. She spent her career building bridges, fighting for greater inclusion of women and people of color in the labor movement. She co-founded the Coalition of Labor Union Women and was appointed by Eleanor Roosevelt to the U.S. Commission on the Status of Women.

An ordained minister, she brought moral clarity to the fight for workers' rights. She worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to support the Montgomery Bus Boycott and later mentored a young Chicago organizer named Barack Obama.

Addie Wyatt kicked down doors and held them open for everyone behind her, and we are proud to continue her legacy today.

The evidence is clear: When unions are strong, workers have more power and communities thrive.

There is an undeniable correlation between higher levels of unionization and stronger economic, community, and democratic outcomes. States with a larger share of workers represented by a union enjoy higher incomes, greater access to health insurance, and fewer voting restrictions. When workers join....

A lot of people think filing a grievance is about being difficult or causing trouble. It's not.

Filing a grievance is about holding management accountable to the contract we fought for and voted to ratify. It's about making sure the rules apply equally to everyone and creating a record when something goes wrong so the same thing doesn't keep happening to the next person.

Your contract is only as strong as your willingness to enforce it. When management violates it by skipping you for overtime, disciplining you unfairly or ignoring safety concerns, and nobody says anything, that becomes the new normal. But when you file a grievance, you're saying "this isn't acceptable, and we're not letting it slide."

The grievance process isn't perfect. It takes time. It can be frustrating. But it's one of the most powerful tools you have as a union member.

If something doesn't feel right at work, talk to your steward. That's what they're there for. Don't wait until it's too late or until it happens to someone else. Your voice matters, and your grievance matters.

Union sisterhood is showing up for each other on the line, at the bargaining table, and every day in between. Stewards like Michelle and reps like Louise are the backbone of this union. That's what solidarity looks like.
