I think this is a good discussion addressing recent political headlines. I also think it brings up a point we need to look at from a consumer standpoint. I see so many comparisons to candy or coffee, which are considered luxury purchases (full disclosure, my coffee is not a luxury, but I digress), they took time to compare it to pork and chicken prices, you know alternative protein sources, insurance costs, etc, this is where we need to make our comparisons.

Powder River-Carter County Farm Bureau summer membership Extravaganza

There’s a family fun day being planned and hosted by PRCCFB August 2nd, 2026 starting at 1:00 pm, at the Boyes Hall.

To kick things off we’ll have a Trap shoot and prizes for the men’s, women’s,& kid’s division, and possibly a couple's division If we have the participants. Gunny Guns will be bringing a few different gauge sh****ns for people to use, if they don’t have their own. Gunny will also have ammo available for purchase at the shoot.

We have games for all ages planned, including a frog & turtle race for the kids, which won’t have an age limit. So even the kids at heart can get in on the races. Be sure to bring your quickest frog, turtle, or both for the races. Otherwise take your chances with the reptiles and amphibians that we have available.

We’re going to have CORN HOLE tournaments, as well as Corn Hole just for fun, if you’re not interested in being in the competition.

Inside the hall will be bingo for all ages throughout the day, as well as a poker tournament if we have enough players. We will also have some board games and coloring available for the kids, and there could be prizes
given out for the coloring.

Mike Capra is roasting a lamb for the event, Yum yum! Patten will be bringing a ham as well, and there will be lots of salads and desserts. Feel free to bring your favorite dish if you'd like.

Come have a visit with your neighbors and bring a friend along with you. We need to do more visiting like we use to. We sure miss those country card parties, dances, and get togethers like we used to have. Let’s bring that back.

This event is in appreciation of all our agriculture communities and a membership drive to invite new people to come and join us.

Our Young, Farmers & Ranchers Group is currently working on musical entertainment to end out the evening and we’d really love for you to take part.
