On the eve of one of our biggest adoption events every year I am sitting her with Valka. My momma cat. My little shadow. Also one of MLCR’s first rescues back in 2017. She was found in a parking lot of a grocery store up in Wi******er with three kittens. They were about seven weeks old. My husband and I drove to get her and in the carrier she was doing somersaults and the kittens were just looking at me. I took out her little black kitten and held him all the way home as I’ve always had a fondness for black cats. But there were something special about Valka. She has RBF but is the sweetest cat in the world and such a good mom. Flash forward almost 10 years and I still own Valka and we also kept her son Toothless.

This morning, while she sitting here getting love from me, she reminded me as why we rescue. We rescue for all the Valkas out there surviving outside, with kittens, just trying to be a good mom and stay alive.

Rescue is not for the weak hearted, but it is for the soft hearted. Rescue is hard and rescue is rewarding, but what we need to remember is that rescue needs to be a team effort. The endgame for all of this is to rescue kittens and cats off the street and give them a safe long life.

We do it for the Valkas. Who is your reason?💜🐾💙🐾🐈‍⬛❤️

Hope to get your support tomorrow at Haymarket Day!

Get your cat a cat. Saltine (tabby on the right) is looking for his family. Must have a cat for him to cat with. Saltine is around 6 months old, very sweet and LOVES other cats! He has also been around dogs and young babies!

Saltine doesn’t do well at adoption events so adopt him before Haymarket Day this coming Saturday so he won’t have to go!!!!! 💙🐾
