Back in January, I took a leap of faith and applied for my very first grant. I knew it would take a long time to hear back, but I just kept going, kept working hard, and stayed focused on our mission.

Today, I am so happy to share that we officially got our first grant! 🥹🎉

I didn't do this alone. A huge thank you to the Alice L. Johnson Charitable Trust foundation for believing in us, and to my sweet friend Norma Sullivan who put in such good, trusting words for me and this space. Your support means everything.

I want everyone to know how serious I am about our nonprofit and why we are here. Our culture and our community matter so much. I hope this shows other foundations and donors that when you support us, it goes right back into bringing real culture to our people.

Here is what this money is going to help us do:
🌿 Fund our upcoming small events like La Botánica Mágica and Los Tres Reyes
🇵🇷 Bring even more beautiful, handmade artisan products straight from Puerto Rico to our shop in Bristol!

Thank you all for always backing me and loving this space. We are just getting started! 💖

Amigos!
If you know of anyone living in PR (not vacationing) and are in need of lámpara, flashlight, batteries, fans, solar power fans, water, water tablets/powder, etc.
We may not get through to the community centers or organizations on the island so we will go straight to the people who are in need.

Please contact me however you can either messenger , text/call, email. So we can put together items and prep for shipping.

We are getting ready to set up a dedicated Community Shipping Corner right here at the shop to send direct, grassroots relief items to small, overlooked neighborhood centers in Puerto Rico facing power and water shortages.

No big corporate middlemen, no government red tape—just direct, pueblo-a-pueblo support.

Because infrastructure issues are ongoing, this will be an open, ongoing initiative with no end date. We’ll be collecting lightweight, high-impact essential items (like solar lights, mini fans, batteries, and water purification tools) and shipping them directly to organizers on the ground as boxes fill up.

My momma and Monte dropped off a new grill! ♨️ Now we can host the way Puerto Boricuas did with horseshoe, dominos, some yelling and naughty words but lots of fun. Especially our specialty which is cracking jokes on each other! 😆🤣 How else to show love and care by making someone walk away, lol.

I´m sorry for reminding you about the upcoming next season, FALL/AUTUMN 🥹 but running a nonprofit we have to be ready to bring it! So here we go! ...
We are hosting an indoor, FREE make your own ¨potion¨ where you blend in the shop and try at home. Was it too sweet, too sour, too much of... pero que´esto!!🤮😂
It´s kid-friendly, possibly parent approved and we still managed to put in a little culture. Believe it, or not we found a way. 😉

Rewinding it back to 2000–2004! 🇵🇷✨ (Forgot to post this yesterday for Throwback Thursday)

Imagine taking a Jíbaro straight out of the mountains, handing them a Motorolla Razr or a Nokia 3310, and telling them to press '7' four times just to type the letter 'S' for a text message. 🤦🏽‍♀️📱

Between the Puerto Rican Parade floats, the iconic early 2000s outfits, and trying to pull out that tiny phone antenna just to get one bar of service, those were the days! Shoutout to my fellow Class of 2004 crew—who remembers trying to set a reggaeton ringtone through a phone speaker? 😆🎶
