The Team Behind the Work

There is a TEAM behind the work! 💜✨

This young lady has been a part of Destined for a Dream for more than two years as our amazing Administrative Assistant, and I cannot say enough about how much she is appreciated!

From keeping attendance and programmatic information organized, to maintaining the data we need when writing and submitting grants, taking inventory, making sure supplies are where they need to be, and even ensuring the snacks are put away, she does it ALL!

She is in the office weekly working behind the scenes, helping keep things moving, and making sure we are prepared to do what we do best: serve our students and families.

Ms. Julie, you have NO idea how much your dedication, consistency, and hard work mean to us and to Destined for a Dream.

Thank you for ALL that you do! 💜

There truly is a team behind the work, and today we celebrate one of the amazing people who helps make it happen!

Thank you, Ms. Julie! 👏🏽💜

A couple of weeks ago, we held our bi-monthly Board Meeting at Destined for a Dream, and we have some EXCITING news to share! 🎉✨

There are lots of photos coming as we continue to make moves, implement changes, and make adjustments that will help us continue to grow and serve our community even better.

As a nonprofit, we must continue to be about the WORK. The mission. The students. The families. The impact. ❤️

Free Resources!!!

Destined For A Dream Foundation

A Community Resource 💙

Destined For A Dream has been, and will continue to be, a resource in our community.

We’re sharing a few flyers with you that may be helpful to families as we prepare for another school year. You may know someone who is in need, or you may know someone who is willing to participate, donate, or support one of these efforts.

Each year, Destined For A Dream helps provide school-related items to families and organizations in our community. While we don’t necessarily host a traditional back-to-school drive, we assist families who come to us in need of school supplies, book bags, shoes, and other resources. We also refer families to other organizations and agencies that can provide additional support.

📚 Need school supplies? Check the flyers for where to get them.
🎒 Need a book bag? There’s a resource listed.
👟 Need help with shoes for your student? Check the flyers.
🏫 Looking for additional school, college, or community resources? You may find helpful information there as well.

Please take a moment to review the flyers. Some dates may have already passed, but if you are still in need, please reach out directly to the organization listed to see if assistance is still available.

All of these flyers have been posted outside our nonprofit office, and Destined For A Dream has supported several of these organizations by helping provide items for their back-to-school efforts.

If you have additional questions or need help finding a resource, please feel free to reach out to us. We are in the office every week and can be reached by email or phone.

Parents, don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek resources, and take advantage of the support available in our community. ❤️

Have an awesome week, and remember—it truly takes a community to support our children!

Over the past 18 years, we’ve seen firsthand why consistent academic support matters. At Destined For A Dream, our students continue to make meaningful gains in both reading and math because of their hard work, the commitment of their families, and targeted instruction that builds on the strengths they already possess.

We don’t replace what students bring to the table, we enhance it, helping them grow in confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and reach their full potential. As the need for stronger math instruction continues to grow, we remain committed to providing individualized support that prepares students for long-term academic success.

Across Pennsylvania, statewide assessments show that only about 50% of students are proficient in reading, and approximately 42% are proficient in mathematics. These numbers remind us that there is still important work to do.

That’s why learning shouldn’t stop when summer begins. Without ongoing practice, many students experience “summer learning loss,” returning to school in August and September having forgotten some of the progress they made during the previous school year.

Even a little consistent reading, writing, and math practice throughout the summer can make a tremendous difference. Every child deserves the opportunity to continue growing, and together we can help ensure they start the new school year stronger than ever.

There are so many moving pieces behind the scenes of a nonprofit. 💜

Today has been an extremely long day—from an early morning with the Philadelphia Eagles, to appointments/pop ups throughout the day, and ending the evening with tutoring at Destined For A Dream.

When I tell you our students were locked in, they were truly locked in! Their focus, determination, and willingness to learn made every minute worth it.

I am so proud of each and every one of them for choosing to push through this summer to keep their academics strong. Success doesn’t happen by accident, it comes from consistency, hard work, and showing up even when school is out.

Keep going, scholars.

🎉 Freedom Friday!

Our students are learning, growing, and thriving as we wrap up Week 3 of our summer programming and enrichment!

Yesterday was a full day of purpose as I wore multiple hats, preparing school supplies for partner organizations, teaching, empowering, and inspiring the next generation. Every day reminds me why this work matters.

Nonprofits can’t do it alone. If you’d like to help us continue providing educational opportunities, school supplies, and life-changing programs for students and families, we’d be honored to have your support.

Every sponsorship and every donation makes a difference.
Reach out!! We could use your support!

Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in our community. ❤️📚

Hey Parents! 📚🎓

By popular demand, Dream Academy is back in full force! We’re excited to once again help students prepare for college, trade school, military, and life after high school.

Our 4–6 week summer session begins at the end of July, and if all goes well, we’ll continue into the fall school year.

Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait! Secure your scholar’s spot sooner rather than later.

If you know a 9th–12th grade student who could benefit from academic support, college and career planning, SAT/ACT preparation, scholarships, FAFSA guidance, leadership development, and more, please share this post and have them reach out today!
