One of the greatest blessings of serving on the Sullivan County Commission these past few years has been the opportunity to serve on the Sullivan County Health Council. I’ve truly enjoyed working alongside so many dedicated people who care deeply about our community!

One of the council’s most recent accomplishments is especially meaningful. Under the leadership of Chief Hubbard, our Hands-Only CPR Task Force and its wonderful volunteers have been offering FREE CPR training at events throughout Sullivan County.

❤️ More than 7,000 citizens have now been trained with skills that could help save a life! That’s something worth celebrating!

I’m especially thankful for Chief Hubbard, Sullivan County Health Department Director Hannah Taylor, Ms. Tony, and the many other leaders and volunteers who have poured their hearts into serving our community.

It’s been a privilege to work alongside these individuals, and I’m grateful for the friendships, partnerships, and meaningful work we’ve shared.

When people come together with a heart to serve, incredible things can happen. And this is a wonderful example of that! ❤️

There are some nights that just feel uniquely American & Bristol, TN. 🇺🇸🏁

An eagle soaring over the track, thousands of people on their feet, the roar of the engines, and 500 laps under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway. What a night!

A huge thank you to our friends KD & Becky Moore for letting Matt and me tag along for the Bristol Night Race. We had such a great time. And with Brad Pitt helping give the command to start the engines, Bristol certainly knew how to put on a show!

Congratulations to Joey Logano and the No. 22 team on the win! 🏆

I’m also grateful to Leader Lamberth for his leadership and for helping make sure Northeast Tennessee continues to receive the recognition it deserves. I’m proud to have “The Last Great Colosseum” right here in our district and to see people from across the country come experience our beautiful corner of Northeast Tennessee.

Thanks again, KD & Becky, for a night we won’t soon forget.

Today is Constitution Day. 🇺🇸

On September 17, 1787, our Constitution was signed, beginning with three powerful words: “We the People.”

As I prepare to serve in the Tennessee General Assembly, I’m reminded that public office is a trust—and our duty is to uphold the Constitution, protect liberty, and remember that government derives its authority from the people.

Two years ago, Matt and I had the privilege of participating in the Tri-Cities 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb with the best folks around.

It’s hard to describe what it feels like to climb those stairs knowing that on September 11, 2001, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other first responders were climbing into danger while so many others were trying to escape it.

2,977 lives were lost that day. Behind every number was a name, a family, and a story that should never be forgotten.

Tomorrow morning, our community has another opportunity to remember and honor them at the Tri-Cities 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. It begins at 9:00 AM, and I encourage you to come out and be part of it.

We remember the lives lost.
We honor the heroes who ran toward danger.
We remember the families whose lives changed forever.

And we teach the next generation why this day matters.

Hard to believe it was a year ago today.

Soon after, our community came together for a prayer vigil and help empower young people with such a terrible tragedy.
May we continue on together and all live our lives with that same courage and faith. May we not lose ourselves and humanity to social media or online platforms.

What a great day to witness so many colleagues being sworn in.
It was a full-circle moment.
Congratulations to my amazing teammate in District 6 of the past 4 years, Mayor Vanover!
Thank you to Commissioners Tim Pullon, Matthew Johnson, and Bob Harshbarger for stepping up to the plate for District 6. I am so honored to know each of them and have great confidence in their leadership.
Was able to see and hug my high school principal, Mrs. Sells, who poured into my life during some really tough times.
And what a gift it is to have Lakie in this role, my friend who I have worked with through Turning Point and more. Exciting times.
Congratulations to all of the newly elected officials and leaders in our beautiful Sullivan County!

Last night was my final meeting as a commissioner with TCSA, held at the Ron Ramsey Ag Center. It was an informative evening with both incoming and outgoing commissioners in the room, and the meal from the Sullivan County Cattlemen’s Association was delicious as always.

Today the new county elected officials will be sworn in at the Sullivan County Courthouse at 1pm. Congratulations to everyone stepping into these roles. I look forward to seeing the work you do for Sullivan County.
