⚓ Along the Delaware River in Bucks County sits Bristol Borough, one of the oldest continuously settled towns in the entire United States. English settlers established it in 1681, the same year William Penn received his charter for Pennsylvania, which makes Bristol older than Philadelphia itself by a matter of months.
🏘️ For more than three centuries Bristol has stayed a working river town, home to shipbuilders, mills, and generations of families who never left. Its Mill Street historic district is lined with homes dating back to the 1700s, and the Grundy Mill complex along the water still stands as a reminder of the textile industry that once employed thousands of local residents.
🌊 Unlike a lot of small river towns that faded once their industries left, Bristol has held onto its identity, with a lively riverfront park, a historic theater, and streets that still follow their original colonial layout.
