Bristol Borough Learning Centers

Bristol Borough Learning Centers The Academic Oversight Committee (AOC) was created in 2010 by the Grundy Foundation, which serves as its fiscal sponsor.

Bristol Borough Learning Centers provide year-round programs and services to Borough youth in grades Kindergarten - 12 attending public or parochial school in Bristol Borough, Bucks County, PA. Residents, parents, and community stakeholders make up AOC’s volunteer membership board. In partnership with the Bristol Borough School District, AOC-funded programs improve students’ academic performance,

develop their physical, social and emotional skill sets and facilitate their service learning and volunteer efforts. Over time, the goal of these programs is to produce well-rounded students capable of achieving state-mandated performance and curricula standards and equipped to become future Borough leaders.

At last night's Council meeting, on behalf of Bristol Borough Council, Councilman Lou Quattrocchi presented a check to the Academic Oversight Committee (A.O.C.).

Accepting the donation on behalf of the A.O.C. were Amy McIvaine and Evan Van Schie, Program Director for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers of the Bristol Borough School District.

The funds will support the A.O.C.'s Summer Camp Program, which provides students with academic enrichment, recreational activities, educational field trips, and the annual student performance held each August at Bristol Riverside Theatre.
The six-week summer program begins June 29 and operates Monday through Thursday at Snyder-Girotti, St.Marks, and Bristol High School.

Bristol Borough Council is proud to support programs that provide meaningful educational and recreational opportunities for our community's youth.

Bristol Borough School District is receiving funding to launch a new, comprehensive out‑of‑school time initiative serving youth ages 12–18. The project aims to reduce risk factors tied to academic underperformance, absenteeism, social‑emotional challenges, and exposure to unsafe community conditions by operating structured after‑school, evening, weekend, and summer programming at multiple school and community sites, including the Bristol Borough Middle/High School, St. Mark’s Middle School, and the Bristol Borough Fire Association. The initiative targets approximately 170 youth each year disproportionately impacted by poverty, housing instability, disability, limited English proficiency, chronic absenteeism, and gang/drug‑related recruitment pressures. Core activities include academic tutoring, homework help, STEM/STEAM enrichment, career readiness programming, industry‑aligned certification opportunities, mentoring, wellness activities, and specialized prevention programming. The project also includes a public‑safety focused Junior and Youth Fire Cadet Program delivered in partnership with the Bristol Borough Fire Department, providing leadership development, civic engagement, and supervised skill‑building during high‑risk hours.
