Gratitude!
Much of the Christian camping ministry lifestyle is lived at breakneck speed. May through September is jam-packed with things like cleaning the camp between groups, planning retreats, planning Day Camp, doing endless maintenance, ordering supplies, communicating with and hosting church groups, etc. It’s honestly really hard to find time to quiet yourself and reflect on, and be thankful for, everything that God is doing at Wilderness Northwest.
This season though, when the camp is so quiet that you can almost hear the brilliant orange and red maple leaves land gently on the ground is different. In October, the sounds of families laughing together and the sweet singing of groups of believers worshipping our amazing God around the campfire, get replaced by the steady sound of rain and the soft creaking of trees as they sway in the autumn breezes. In October, as Ray and I work to clear the roads of leaves and debris, it is easier to find time to reflect and be thankful.
Just this morning as I walked the camp, Stihl leaf-blower strapped to my back, the Lord brought to my mind all of the many blessings He poured out on us this past year. I thought about His faithful financial provision, the energy he supplied us with, the safety that He provided and especially the work that we saw him do in our hearts as well as the hearts of the people that He brought to the camp. One of the most powerful ways that He accomplished all of these things and caused us to “overflow with gratitude” as Paul instructs us in Colossians 2:7, is through the people that He sends and that work alongside us to make Wilderness Northwest a place that glorifies God and supports His people.
So many of you gave so joyfully to help us accomplish our mission of providing a place of “rest, recreation and restoration” and also to be a light in our community as we share the good news of Jesus. Whether you joined us in the rain to pick up sticks or dig a footing in May, or you took down a dangerous tree, or you ran a weed-eater to make the camp look beautiful, or you helped Krysten clean the camp in between groups, or you worked at Day Camp, or you came every Thursday to do maintenance, or you made and donated shirts to sell in the Trading Post, or you gave us an encouraging note or comment, or you supported the camp financially, or you prayed for us and the ministry of Wilderness Northwest-God used you to accomplish His purposes here at our little camp in 2025. How special! Krysten and I are so grateful for each and every one of you who give in your own unique way.
We look forward with great excitement, knowing that this camp belongs to God and that He is directing our steps. Thanks to every single one of you who come alongside us so faithfully each year. We can’t wait to see what God has planned for 2026!
Your brother-in-Christ,
Alan Reimann
