Kenterius Norwood is our second May member of the month. He is a sophomore at BHS and has been an active member of the FFA for two years. You may recognize Kenterius from last year with him being one of the active freshmen who competed in multiple contests and attended conferences. If not, that's okay. We know Kenterius will continue to be a member who will be on this page often. He strives to be an active member of the FFA while balancing athletics, other clubs and classes at EACC. He is the type of student who will work hard in and out of the classroom in order to grow as a student and person. He has shown that he is not afraid to step out of his comfort zone and try new things. We can not wait to see how he continues to grow! Congratulations Kenterius on being our May member of the month!

At least we get to be on time for our May members of the month! Our first member of the month for May is Kaeden Durham. Kaeden is a senior at BHS and has been in FFA for the past two years. If we had to describe Kaeden in two words it would be funny and outgoing. Although he may be a little bit of a class clown and may have gotten a few “hey buddy” conversations with Mrs. Clark this year, he has also shown how much of a hard worker he can be when he sets his mind to something. He has truly grown as a person and developed a passion for FFA. He was always willing to help out the officers with planning and running our events this year and helped get the classroom back in order after many of our events. We have no doubt Kaeden will continue to be great at whatever he chooses to do because he is a hard worker and compassionate person who will do whatever it takes and be there for those he cares about. Congratulations Kaeden on being our May member of the month! We will miss you! Go do great things!

Our second April member of the month is Jamya James. Mya is a senior at BHS and has been in FFA for three years throughout her high school career at BHS. We have been blessed to watch Mya grow into the amazing young person that she is today. She is kind, compassionate and a true friend to those around her. She is the type of person that will go above and beyond for her people and we are proud to say that passion translated into being a great leader in the FFA. She is one of those members you could rely on to help plan and show up to events without needing the recognition to do so. If she could spend all day in the agriculture classroom, she would. Her love and dedication for the chapter is something that we have been blessed to experience. Congratulations Mya James for being our April member of the month! We are going to miss you while you continue to do great things.

We may be a little bit behind but that is only because we have been staying busy at BHS. Our first April member of the month is Jailah Moore. Jailah Moore is a sophomore at BHS and has been an active member of the FFA for two years. Jailah has consistently shown interest and dedication to FFA and growing as a leader. She works hard in her agri classes and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She has stepped up as a future leader in FFA this past year and has been eager to help plan and decorate for events. We can’t wait to see what she does next year in FFA. Not only has her eagerness to learn and grow helped her become a leader in FFA but she has stepped up and helped out whenever she can in the school throughout the year. Whether it be helping decorate for events, making sure to capture moments for the yearbook or being a leader for the su***de prevention program, Jailah has shown that she care about this school and being a positive role model. Congratulations Jailah for being our April FFA member of the month!

Our second FFA member for the month of March is Alande Davis. Alande is a junior at BHS and is in his third year in FFA. Alande has a funny personality, outgoing spirit, and kind heart. He always knows how to make others laugh and brings positive energy to our chapter. His outgoing and friendly nature makes it easy for him to connect with others. His ability to connect with people and lift others up makes us see the great potential for him to grow into a strong leader. We are excited to see him grow as a member and hopefully a leader within our chapter.

Outside of the FFA, Alande is a BHS athlete. He works hard on all of his teams and is constantly trying to improve himself and be a team leader. Alande is one of those athletes that leaves it all on the field or court. He works hard to balance his academics with his athletics. We are proud of all of the growth Alande has demonstrated throughout the years and we look forward to seeing where he ends up. Congratulations Alande!

Our first member of the month for March is Derrick Tatum. Derrick is a senior at BHS and has been an FFA member all four years. We are proud to say he is one of our dedicated leaders within our chapter. He is currently serving as our chapter’s president for the 2025-2026 school year. Derrick has taken his role as president seriously by not only planning events and promoting agriculture but also encouraging other members to step up and be leaders in their own way. We can always count on Derrick to get the job done.

We are proud of the growth Derrick has demonstrated throughout his senior year. Derrick has stepped up as manager for BHS football and BHS baseball teams. He is a member of the BHS student council and has acted as a role model for many of our younger students. We have loved seeing him step out of his comfort zone and become a more involved and confident student and person. Congratulations to our Mr. Go-To and Mr. President, Derrick Tatum!

Highlights from our FFA week

Monday: Project Renew Presentation with Ms. Kionti Traylor to spread awareness of su***de prevention and mental health resources. Our students have been working with Project Renew in order to host events throughout the year and this week, Ms. Traylor talked to the Agri students.

Tuesday: Community Luncheon to show appreciation for the community that always supports our students, chapter and school.
We also kept the tradition with our Greenhand members leaving their mark on our chapter!

Wednesday: Agri Olympics. Members had fun participating in team working games including a relay race and plank walking.

Thursday: Members handed out a simple snack to our teachers and staff at BHS to show appreciation for all that they do.

Friday: Annual Agricultural Education Day at the elementary . Thank you Palmer Trucking for providing the truck and trailer for the farm equipment safety station! Thank you to UAEX Monroe County helping out again and teaching them about soybean production. Thank you students, Jamya James and Alana Elmore, for sharing your rabbits with us!

We are proud of all the work the kids put into the week, from planning, working, cleaning up and being fully invested in the activities! Their leadership skills truly shined this week!

Our second member of the month for February is Keithan James. Keithan is another one of our BHS seniors who has been an active member of the FFA for all four years. He has stepped up as a leader in FFA several times throughout the year. We are blessed to have members like Keithan who will step up to lead and serve our chapter without needing the recognition. He may not be an FFA officer, but that has not stopped him from being a role model for younger members or from helping out whenever he can.

Keithan James is not only a secret leader in our FFA chapter, but has stepped up as a leader in the classrooms and athletics from time to time. His outgoing personality and compassion for others have helped be an outstanding role model for younger students. He is the type of person that strives to lift others up and encourage them to always try their best in whatever they do. We love when our members are not only leaders but are also cheerleaders for other members. Congratulations, Keithan James! We have no doubt that you will continue to be great!
