Since October 13, 1775, the men and women of the U.S. Navy have answered the call to serve, defending our freedom and protecting our nation across the seas.

Paws of War is incredibly honored to receive a generous $7,000 contribution raised by the Operation VEST Foundation through its 2026 Dog Tag Run!

The 10th Annual Dog Tag Run brought people together for a 2.2-mile run, walk, ruck and dog walk in support of Veteran and Active-Duty Military su***de prevention. Every step taken helped make this so much more than an event. It became a powerful demonstration of unity, purpose and support for those who have served.

Operation VEST is doing extraordinary work to raise awareness and help prevent su***de among Veterans and Active-Duty Military Members. Their commitment to this mission is powerful, personal and deeply needed.

We are especially grateful to Operation VEST co-founders Stefan Hespeler and Jenny Hespeler for their incredible hearts and unwavering support. We are proud to call them our friends, partners and part of the Paws of War family.

This gift is especially meaningful during the week of September 22, a monthly Veteran Buddy Check Day and a date now recognized in Suffolk County as Veteran Su***de Awareness and Remembrance Day. It is an important reminder to reach out, start a conversation and make sure the Veterans in our lives know they are never alone.

These funds will help Paws of War continue providing life-changing support to Veterans, Active-Duty Military Members, First Responders, Gold Star Families and the animals they love!
