Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched in 1977, continue operating in interstellar space. Voyager 1 is the most distant human-made object at more than 25 billion kilometers from Earth, with a signal delay exceeding twenty-three hours. Voyager 2 is more than 21 billion kilometers away, with a delay of over nineteen hours.

Both spacecraft have passed beyond the heliosphere and now sample the local interstellar medium. Their instruments measure cosmic rays, magnetic environments, and plasma conditions outside the Sun’s direct influence.

They remain functional after forty-seven years, extending knowledge of the Solar System’s boundary and exemplifying sustained exploration.
