Have you ever wondered how your city works behind the scenes? Join the 2026 Brighton Civic Academy!

The Brighton Civic Academy is a free, eight-week program that gives residents an inside look at how the City of Brighton operates and the people who help serve our community. Participants will get a closer look at departments and services including Police, Utilities, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, City Administration, and learn more about how local government works right here in Brighton.

The academy begins Thursday, Sept. 17, with sessions held from 6–8:30 p.m. A light meal will be provided at each session. The program is limited to 25 participants and is open to anyone 18 and older who lives in Brighton or works for a business with a physical presence in Brighton.

The application deadline is this Sunday, Aug. 23. For more information or to apply, visit

On behalf of Brighton EDC, it was an honor to attend the Healing Hearts Benefit on Saturday in support of the Pennock Center for Counseling, an organization that provides compassionate, accessible mental health services to our community.

The evening was filled with entertainment, connection, generosity, and heartfelt stories that reminded us how essential mental health resources are for living and thriving.

Thank you to Rachel Monroe for hosting such a lovely event! And Thank you to Pennock Center for Counseling for the vital services you provide to our community. We are proud to stand alongside partners who make a difference every day.
