October Adult Craft-to-Go is DIY Lace Ghosts!

Bring a little handmade Halloween spirit into your home with this month’s Adult Craft-to-Go! Our DIY lace ghost kits include everything you need to create a delicate, spooky decoration for the season.

Pick up a kit at Bridgton Public Library, follow the simple instructions, and watch your little ghost take shape. It’s a fun, easy project to enjoy at home, no crafting experience needed!

Join us on Tuesday, October 14th, at 10 AM for our Nonfiction Book Group as we discuss The Holocaust by Bullets by Father Patrick Desbois, a powerful account of the mass shootings carried out by N**i forces during the Holocaust.

Whether you’ve been part of the group for a while or are looking to join us for the first time, we welcome you to take part in this thoughtful discussion.

Join us at the Bridgton Public Library Book Shed on Saturday, October 10th, from 10:00AM–1:00PM for our final book sale of the season. Our Patron Appreciation Day Sale is our way to say “Thank You” for all the ways our patrons support us all year long. So come on out to the book shed to stock up on our excellent selection of used books–there will be plenty to carry you through the long winter months to come.

Our used-book sales are a wonderful way to find affordable books while supporting your Bridgton Public library. Proceeds help us continue providing welcoming spaces, engaging programs, and the resources our community relies on most.

We’re grateful to everyone who donates books, shops our sales, and helps spread the word. So we hope you’ll stop by, pay what you can, and take home a few literary treasures for the season. We look forward to expressing our many thanks to you on October 10th, and all month long! Please join us and enjoy complimentary homemade cookies from your Friends here at Bridgton Public Library!

It's a busy week here at Bridgton Public Library, on top of National Voter Education Week we're in the midst of Banned Book Week. Our Banned Book Displays are up and ready for our patrons to peruse! And in Honor of Let Freedom Read Day, (October 10th) we’re asking everyone to take at least one action to help defend books from censorship and to stand up for your library staff, educators, writers, publishers, and booksellers who make them available!

Censorship is a national problem that happens at the local level. That means elections matter! The right to read (and the freedom of speech) depends on us. While you’re taking action on Let Freedom Read Day, don’t forget to prepare for our upcoming elections (November 3rd). See our linktree in the bio for more voting resources.

We’re changing things up this week! While we won’t have our usual children's Storytime, we’d love to have you join us this Friday at 10am for a special morning of crafting and snacking together.

Meet Jenn!

Next up in our Meet the Librarians series is Jenn, who loves being part of the hard-working and supportive team at BPL. You’ll most often find her browsing the Adult Fiction shelves, recommending T.J. Klune, or talking with our youngest patrons about her childhood favorite, Charlotte’s Web.

Outside the library, Jenn enjoys gardening, knitting, hiking, kayaking, live music, supporting local businesses, and—most of all—spending time with her family.

Jenn wants patrons to know about two library resources she especially loves: our free Meeting Room, which is available for the community to reserve, and our Home Delivery program, which brings the library to anyone who needs it.

And if you need help getting more out of your phone or navigating the digital world, Jenn is happy to help with that, too! The next time you see Jenn ask her what literary character would make the best coworker, and give her a warm hello!
