A fantastic hike this morning at Lovers Leap State Park. Thank you to Darlene Kascak of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation for her warm and meaningful welcome and The Institute For American Indian Studies for partnering with us.

The BWLT hosted a fantastic hike for 5th graders from Burnham School, joined by special guests from Morris Street Elementary School in Danbury. Thirty-five students enjoyed a gorgeous fall day in the woods, learning about trail signage, flora and fauna, and the wildlife that calls our preserves home. They even picked up a few woodland tricks along the way including how to whistle with the top of an acorn! The students were polite, curious, and wonderfully appreciative. It was a really special outing and a beautiful way to connect young people with each other and the land around them. A special thank you to Burnham School 5th Grade teacher Mr. Testani for organizing this partnership.

Community spirit was in full force yesterday at Bridgewater’s Annual Tractor Parade! The Land Trust would never miss the fun! Well done to all those who braved the rain, kept floats intact, and laughed from start to finish!
