An important meeting was held in May to explore the idea of resurrecting the monument honoring Chief Waramaug at Lover's Leap State Park in New Milford. The state of Connecticut owns the park and will lead the effort, with local input and engagement from the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation, the towns of New Milford and Bridgewater, and the Institute for American Indian Studies based in Washington, CT.

Join us this Saturday for our Mountain Laurel Hike. The Mountain Laurel became the official state flower of Connecticut in 1907, due to a successful grassroots campaign led by more than 3,000 Connecticut women who petitioned the state legislature. Hikers will see it in bloom on top of Silica Mine Hill.

The Bridgewater Land Trust purchased heirloom tomatoes and peppers at today's Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club plant sale, and we're ready to get them in the ground!

We will be planting at the Jim Allen Farm Preserve tomorrow (Sunday) at 9:00 AM, and we could use a few extra hands. If you can spare an hour, please join us and help plant this season's garden. The harvest will help support the Bridgewater Food Pantry and provide fresh, locally grown produce to community members in need.
