Ches is discovering new skills and growing in confidence through the Keystone Arabian Horse Experience at Bay Area Equestrian Center!

At 18 years old, Ches, who has Down syndrome, has a true love for horses and enjoys both caring for and riding them. During his lesson, he rode the wonderful Birdie, a 25-year-old Half-Arabian and retired show horse with an impressive career in Western Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Western Equitation, and Hunter Equitation.

With Birdie as his partner, Ches learned to trot, back his horse, improve his balance with rings on his boots, and practice steering using his legs. It was an exciting lesson filled with new accomplishments, and we're honored to help make opportunities like this possible through the Keystone Arabian Horse Experience.

A special thank-you to our partner, Schneider's, for generously providing a $150 gift certificate toward Ches' lesson gear. Your support makes a meaningful difference for our riders!

A passion for Arabian horses, a thoughtful idea and a community that showed up! 💛

Thank you to Beatrice “Bea” Barker and Second Stride for their generous donation to the Keystone Riding Initiative!

Bea launched Second Stride at Youth Nationals to support youth programs through show clothing consignment. We’re grateful she chose to share that success with Keystone, helping more young riders experience the joy of Arabian horses.

To everyone who donated clothing or brought items to consign - thank you for helping make Second Stride’s first year a success!

Interested in consigning or have questions? Text 605-370-3914 for more information about Second Stride!
