Horses with Hope: Discovery, Growth and Learning Programs

Horses with Hope: Discovery, Growth and Learning Programs Therapeutic riding provides physical, social and emotional benefits through the horse's movement.

Join us in helping to improve the quality of life to persons 2 years or older with special needs. We are looking for individuals, 14 years or older, parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, friends and family to volunteer with our riding sessions. We utilize 3 volunteers per rider, a horse leader and 2 side walkers, with up to 6 volunteers per session. Training is provided, and you don't have to know about horses or special needs.

MICHAEL'S GIFT: One of our students and his sister, presented several of the volunteers and riding instructors with a special gift of multi colored horse light catchers during Session II. We were so grateful for such a thoughtful gift from such kind folks who have fast become dear friends.

RIDER SPOTLIGHT! This amazing young lady is Lenna! She has been riding for about 9 years and her skill and expertise are growing with each lesson!

Fritz, our gentle giant, is her favorite horse to ride. In spite of his size, Lenna guides him very well with her reins and she loves her time with him.

Outside of lessons, Lenna enjoys music and dancing. She also loves mermaids, unicorns and flamingos.

We love our time with her, as her sweet spirit shines through all she does. We are so blessed to have her as one of our students and look forward to enjoying the horses with her for many years to come!

Just some more scenes from our Belmont Jewel Fundraiser held this weekend at the Upper St Clair Country Club. Our event was sold out! There were lots of fun games, laughter, delicious food and drinks, a beautiful facility to enjoy and most of all an opportunity to support a terrific cause. June is traditionally recognized as PTSD Awareness Month.

We at HWH are proud to help serve some of our local veterans with Equine Assisted Learning Sessions that help them with the following goals:

Emotional Resilience: Veterans learn to recognize and manage their triggers, building stronger coping skills for everyday challenges.

Trust Rebuilding: Horses help veterans practice healthy relational skills, improving trust in themselves and others.

Stress Management: Interactions with horses provide natural biofeedback, helping veterans reduce stress and improve relaxation.

Community Reintegration: By developing communication skills in therapy, veterans gain tools to navigate relationships and reintegrate into their communities.

RIDER SPOTLIGHT! This young lady with the beautiful smile is our student, Suzy! She has been riding with us for about 5 or 6 years and we enjoy her so very much!

She likes all of the riding activities and we love her fun loving spirit and her infectious laugh! She makes us all smile and we love her time with us!

When she is not at lessons, she is a busy girl! She is a great swimmer and swims with PEA0 and Special Olympics. Participating in the Special Actors at the Center for Theater Arts also keeps her active.

Her friendly demeanor is a blessing to all of the volunteers and other students. We look so forward to the times we get to spend with her. She makes each lesson so fun!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT! These are a group of honor students from Chartiers Houston school. They have partnered with us for more than 10 years....their group name is called HELPING HOOVES. The group was started by a wonderful young woman at the school who presented this program to the principal. The idea was accepted and the young people that have joined us a result, have been a blessing ever since :)

RIDER SPOTLIGHT! This week we would like to introduce, Logan! He has taken riding lessons with us for about 11 years. His favorite horse to ride is Micah, however he enjoys all of the horses in our program.

His favorite activity during lessons is rings and cones. This challenges each riders balance, coordination and strength. We like to watch Logan as he masters this each week.

At home, Logan enjoys playing with bubbles and making cool creations with play dough. He also loves to play baseball.

We really enjoy both Logan and his mom. They have infectious smiles and are so kind and we love when they join us at the farm. We are so blessed to know them and so happy that Logan is part of our program!

BATH TIME! "Hi everyone, it's Miracles saying hello from our bathing stall at Empress Farms. Two of our volunteers, Joanne and Mary, took time to give some of us a spring bath recently to help us look our very best! I personally, love to play in water, so I enjoyed my bath very much. We are starting a new riding session tonight, which we are all looking forward to! New families, new riders, reuniting with volunteers, it's all good! Hope to see some of you there!"
