Community leaders, advocates, elected officials, and supporters gathered to make it clear: we will not stay silent while our community leader remains detained.

Update: The resolution was sent back to committee due to logistical confusion regarding document distribution.

The next Chicago City Council meeting is June 17. Alderwoman Rossana Rodríguez-Sánchez, Chair of the Committee on Health and Human Relations, is expected to call another committee hearing to re-vote and pass the resolution out of committee prior to the June 17 City Council meeting.

This is not over.

We will continue fighting for Salah Sarsour and showing up at City Council to demand his immediate release.

The people of Chicago stand united against this attack on our community leader and will not back down.

AMP Chicago spoke with NBC Chicago’s Courtney Sisk regarding the mosque shooting in San Diego.

We honor the heroic security guard who lost his life while protecting others during the attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, the worshippers, and all families and community members impacted.

Places of worship are meant to be spaces of peace, prayer, reflection, and community.

As Muslims enter the sacred days of Dhul Hijjah, we keep the San Diego community in our prayers and reaffirm our commitment to protecting our communities and places of worship.

From generation to generation, we preserve our history, honor our heritage, and continue the struggle for justice and liberation.
