Our prayers go out to the Bonney family. Paul was one of the original volunteers in helping construct our course for the mud run at the motor sports park. After his long day working for the park he would volunteer his own time to help with construction. He was a good man who believed in helping other while they battle this terrible disease.

Paul K. Bonney Millville - Paul K. Bonney, 65 of Millville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday at home with his family by his side. Born in Dorchester, he had lived in the area all of his life. Paul

Message from the BBCF President:

After much discussion and deliberation, the board of directors of the Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation came to the difficult decision to not hold an 11th annual Mud Run event. There are many reasons for this decision, but I can assure you, the hardest part that weighed a lot on our discussions was how we will be missing the many relationships that were a major part of this event over the years.

Relationships including our major sponsors, especially the Inspira Health Network Foundation, Allen Associates and Kennedy Health Care/Jefferson. The hundreds of volunteers over the years that worked so hard. Our amazing mud run committee members who volunteered countless hours in handling the thousands of details. The Bottino family members who did so much and donated their time in providing the food, and so much more to make sure the event was successful. Groups like the Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation and Cook family members, the LIVESTRONG Foundation and New Jersey Motorsports Park that helped us grow throughout the years. And then there’s The Daily Journal, SNJ Today, and the Secret Sauce band who donated their services. And the list goes on and on and I apologize in advance for not mentioning the others who should also be listed here.

The Bottino family is particularly proud of being a big part of donating over $1 million to cancer care organizations over the last 10 years, and all through 100% volunteering without accepting one dime of compensation, and thus allowing all of the proceeds to be donated.

But stand by, because we are currently planning another great annual event that will again help raise money for cancer care. We look forward to donating the next million dollars to our local cancer care facilities and hope to make an announcement in the not too distant future.

Sincerely,
Billy Bottino

Our Story

The Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation (BBCF) was officially established in 2016, even though the Bottino family was heavily involved for years with fundraising and making hundreds of thousand of dollars in donations to the Barbara Cook Cancer Foundation. The BBCF is named in honor of the Bottino’s family patriarch, who lost his life to cancer in 2006. Bill taught the Bottino family many things in life. He taught — Family was business and business was family; that you work hard at both never taking either one for granted. He was a simple man who worked hard and lived an honest life.

As President and CEO of Bottino’s ShopRite Supermarkets, Bill led his family through the bad times and enabled them to enjoy the good times. He shaped the very culture of Bottino’s organization.

Today, the Bill Bottino Cancer Foundation continues to hold fundraising events throughout the year and making donations to local cancer care programs. Keeping the donations local and helping cancer patients directly are important to the BBCF mission.
