BHS DECA participated in the WV State Career Development Conference on Sunday and Monday. 14 students participated in the 2 day conference which included competing in a variety of business events. 2 students competed in individual series events and 12 students chose to pair up for team decision making events. All students were tasked with participating in a role play scenario designed to test understanding of the career cluster chosen. Tasks were presented in front of a pair of judges with a very limited amount of time to review scenario and design a solution (10-20 min). Scores were based on students ability to convey their understanding of the targeted performance indicators through the presentation. These role play scores were combined with a written test score (test given prior to conference)for a final overall score that would determine rankings at the state level. 1st and 2nd place winners are invited to participate at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC)in Orlando, FL next month.
