Our goal at CAPT is to empower the next generation, especially youth from poverty like myself. I will always champion our projects! Huge shoutout to Jamesy FlyerKingz for surprising me with an amazing animated skit to promote our new partnership with Northend Variety. We're teaming up to provide free breakfast for our youth heading to school on June 11 and 12 from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM.

Corner stores and bodegas are modern examples of mom-and-pop shops. These stores play a major role in supporting our neighborhoods, and most of them are located in underserved areas. People often forget the vital impact these neighborhood establishments have on our communities. I am so glad that State Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox had the opportunity to spend time with residents at the Northend Variety Store, right in the heart of the community. We usually only hear negative stories about these shops, but they also bring a lot of positivity to local residents.. Thank you Gnard Eaddy for producing such an awesome Video!

CAPT is so excited and proud of one of our girls! Payton has been a part of CAPT since she was a little girl. Now, she has grown into an incredible young adult, and we are so proud of her. To anyone on my page who follows me, is connected to Notre Dame, and has a child there: please vote for our CAPT girl, Payton, for sophomore class president!

My guy Jojo tried to cut his own dreads and ended up with a choppy look. He was too embarrassed to go to school, but his mom wasn't having it—she said he wasn't staying home another day. I had to get him right first thing this morning so he could make it to class. We are more than just a program; we provide the resources and support parents need to help take some of that heavy load off their shoulders.

I come from a background of food stamps, drugs, guns, and violence—a broken home where kids are forced to become adults at thirteen. In better terms, I am a 'Project Baby.' However, that is not an excuse to stunt my growth or to be discarded as trash. My goal is to show kids that it is possible to come from this environment and still be great. No matter where I go or who I am around, I will always represent the youth that get looked over. I am my youth’s keeper, especially for the lost ones who remind me of myself.

Some of our CAPT girls are among the toughest to work with, but we don't close the door on their aggressiveness—we embrace them and find ways to lighten the load. Yesterday, they made me the best center-made taco salad ever, lol! Big thanks to Molly McClain, Alissa Lauture, and Jacklyn Rod for always pushing for better in these young ladies.

The other day, Molly McClain, Alissa Lauture, and Jacklyn Rod took the CAPT girls to learn in real life the importance of business and cooking from my amazing friend Marla Stanfield, who is the owner of two amazing restaurants in our city of Bridgeport.
