The West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport (WIAAGB) is a non-profit 501(c3) tax exempt organization which serves as a beacon of hope in the Caribbean community. We are a community oriented, social organization devoted to people with inadequate resources, limited opportunities and leadership in maintaining and fostering Caribbean culture and education. We provide services with empha

sis on the City of Bridgeport, and to the Caribbean, one of the neediest regions of the world. WIAAGB wears the mantel as “ambassador “in the Caribbean community. We fulfill our mission with our compassionate and dedicated members and a very small operating budget. We have no paid staff, funding is by dues paid by members and the modest proceeds from three events per year that we offer. We are all volunteers and a hundred percent of our financial resources go directly to fund our programs.

Dear Members and Friends of the West Indian American Organization of Greater Bridgeport (WIAAGB),
It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our esteemed President, Carolyn Vermont on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026. We are mourning the loss of a truly caring community leader.

Carolyn was more than just a leader. She was a truly compassionate mentor and friend to many. She has been a pillar of strength to our organization, providing years of dedicated leadership and service. Her contributions to the West Indian Association of Greater Bridgeport (WIAAGB) have made a lasting impact, and she will be greatly missed by all of us who had the honor of working with her. Her passion for excellence has transformed our organization, and we are sure that he legacy will continue to guide us, We are forever grateful for her tireless service and dedication.

We understand this news is difficult to process, and we will share details regarding memorial arrangements and how we can honor Carolyn as soon as they become available.

Please keep her family in your prayers during this difficult time.
