🎉 THE COUNTDOWN IS ON — OUR 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY COMMUNITY BRUNCH IS COMING! ❤️🍽️

For two years, Healing Kitchen has been bringing our community together around food, fellowship, resources, families, and LOVE—and we’re getting ready to celebrate this milestone with all of YOU!

Join us Saturday, October 3rd from 12–3 PM for our FREE Community Brunch! Come hungry, bring the kids, bring a friend, and invite another. We’ll have delicious food, music, activities for the kids, local resources, and plenty of good energy.

Our Sunday was spent doing what we love—showing up for our community! ❤️

We made a couple of stops around town and made sure to fill up the Little Free Pantry on Skokorat so our neighbors have a little extra support heading into the new week. 🥫🥖🍎

Sometimes making an impact is as simple as filling a pantry, sharing what you have, or showing someone a little kindness.

What a weekend! ❤️🖤💚

Healing Kitchen was honored to serve our community at the Bridgeport Juneteenth Parade last Saturday and the Juneteenth Celebration yesterday in Bridgeport. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to table, connect, and share resources with so many amazing community members.

Across both events, we distributed nearly 3,000 pounds of groceries, helping ensure that families had access to fresh food and support. Beyond the groceries, we had the chance to meet new faces, share our mission, explain how community members can access our services, volunteer, donate, and join us in the fight against food insecurity.

The weather was beautiful, the fellowship was genuine, and the collaborations were powerful. Events like these remind us that when organizations, leaders, and neighbors come together, we create lasting impact.

A special thank you to Chalia & , the NAACP Bridgeport Branch, and the Juneteenth Committee for creating space for organizations like ours to connect directly with the community we serve.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible volunteers who showed up, worked hard, engaged with community members, distributed groceries, shared resources, and represented Healing Kitchen with compassion and heart. None of this work is possible without people willing to give their time and energy to serve others. Your dedication helped us reach more families, create more connections, and make a greater impact.

As always, our message remains the same: In a world with so many resources, no one should go hungry.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, shared a conversation, volunteered, donated, or simply showed love. We appreciate you more than you know.

Until next year, we hope everyone enjoyed their Juneteenth celebrations and all of the festivities that have taken place—and are still happening—throughout the weekend. Together, we continue to honor freedom, celebrate culture, and strengthen our community.

R.I.P. Shirley Raines 🕊️
(December 29, 1967 - January 28, 2026)

Shirley “Ms. Shirley" Raines was an American activist and community leader best known for her efforts to help unhoused people in Los Angeles. She founded Beauty 2 The Streetz, an organization dedicated to providing resources, dignity, and care to people living on Skid Row, including food, hygiene products, clothing, and hope.

Through her work, Ms. Shirley became a beloved figure on social media and in her community, inspiring countless people with her compassion, tireless dedication, and advocacy for some of society’s most vulnerable. Her voice and presence became synonymous with kindness and relentless service.
Shirley Raines passed away in January 2026 at the age of 58.

Her legacy of love, generosity, and service will continue to be remembered by those she helped and those she inspired.
