Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center (“The Center”) is a not-for-profit organization For many working parents, The Center is a lifeline.

Born out of tragedy when a fire in a migrant camp killed two children of seasonal farm workers on October 22, 1950. The Center continues to serve the African-American and growing immigrant population of the Bridgehampton area. Their children flourish in our many programs and play safely on the six acre farm and fields donated to create The Center in the 1950s.

Learning extends far beyond the classroom with our partner DOPO La Spiaggia

Our teens recently had the opportunity to put their dining etiquette lessons to the test with a special dinner at Dopo in Sag Harbor.

Learning how to confidently and respectfully navigate a fine dining setting—from proper table manners and conversation to ordering and interacting with restaurant staff - is an important life skill. Experiences like these help our teens build confidence, practice professionalism, and feel comfortable in a variety of social and professional environments.

A big thank you to for welcoming our teens and helping us turn a lesson into a memorable, real-world experience!

At The Center, we believe every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare our young people for the future.

We will screen two powerful films, followed by two important conversations about issues affecting our families and communities.
MEN OF COURAGE
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Byron Hurt, Men of Courage takes us inside the lives and conversations of Black and Latino men who are challenging other men and boys to examine their role in ending violence against women. But the conversation doesn't end when the film does. Following the screening, we will talk about men, masculinity, mentorship, accountability, violence prevention, and the role men can play in creating change in our communities.
Our panel will include:
Byron Hurt, Award-Winning Filmmaker
Brian Stokley– Founder, Lead by Example
Wil DuBose – New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence
Moderator to be announced
FLOWER
Starring Misty Copeland, Flower tells a moving story through dance about a daughter caring for her mother, who is living with dementia, while also confronting housing insecurity and a changing community. Following the film, we will have an important conversation about caregiving, dementia, aging, housing affordability, intergenerational challenges, and what happens when families are trying to care for the people they love while also struggling to remain in the communities they call home.
Our panel will include:
Lauren Finerman – Filmmaker
Dan Gasby Dan Gasby – CEO & Chairman, B. Smith Enterprises
Curtis Highsmith Curtis Highsmith – ED, Town of Southampton Housing Authority
Lauren Vlachos, MSNP, CFRE – ED, Long Island Office, CaringKind
Moderater - Bonnie Cannon, ED, The Center
These are conversations that affect real people and real families. We hope you will come not only to see these films, but to listen, learn, ask questions, and be part of the conversation.
Refreshments will be served.
Please share this post and invite someone to join you.

Learning, creating, and sharing sweet moments together!

Our Middles had a wonderful time visiting the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where they learned how to make delicious apple turnovers. From learning new skills to enjoying time together in the kitchen, it was a fun and meaningful hands-on experience! The students learned how to peel, slice safely, and use patience while the turnovers baked in the oven. Each child left with their apple turnovers which they got to enjoy with their family.

A special thank you to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral for welcoming our students, sharing your time and traditions, and creating such a memorable experience. We are so grateful for community partners who help make learning happen beyond the classroom! ❤️

Together, we walked for hope, healing, and community. 🎗️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center’s Annual Cancer Walk. Every step was a reminder of the strength found in coming together to support those impacted by cancer.

We are grateful to our families, friends, community members, volunteers, and supporters who showed up and helped make this day so meaningful.

Together, we honor those we have lost, stand beside those fighting, and celebrate survivors. 💗

Thank you for walking with us. Every step counts.
