REPUBLICAN OATH

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored. I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, s*x, age or disability. I BELIEVE free enterprise and
encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity. I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn. I BELIEVE the proper role of
government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least. I BELIEVE the most effective,
responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people. I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times. I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world. FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

We are told that the Lady in the Harbor represents an unconditional open door to the world. But at her very dedication in 1886, the message was not one of charity. It was a strict social contract.

The final words spoken that day drew a hard line in the sand that we have since erased:

"There is room in America and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development. But those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever."

Civilization is not built on proximity. It is built on shared purpose. The invitation was never merely to arrive. It was to build. When you remove the requirement for assimilation, you are not welcoming new citizens. You are importing your own decline.

Ilhan Omar, a U.S. Representative, can be removed via expulsion, requiring a 2/3 House vote under Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution. This is rare, with only five historical cases, mostly for disloyalty. No recall exists for federal offices. Voters can oust her in the 2026 election. As of December 2025, no active expulsion efforts are underway, though a September resolution sought her censure and committee removal.

Thanksgiving history involves a 1621 harvest feast between Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag tribe and its establishment as a national holiday in the United States. While the 1621 event is traditionally cited, it was a one-time feast, not an annual event. The holiday became a national one over a century later, with Abraham Lincoln declaring it in 1863 during the Civil War, and Congress standardizing the date to the fourth Thursday of November in 1941.

Abraham Lincoln established Thanksgiving as a national holiday in 1863 by issuing a proclamation that set the last Thursday of November as a day for Thanksgiving.

His proclamation was made during the Civil War and encouraged Americans to give thanks for the blessings of the year while also acknowledging the nation's sorrows and asking for divine help in healing the country.

The 1863 proclamation followed persistent advocacy from Sarah Josepha Hale.

Sarah Josepha Hale is famous for writing the nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and for successfully campaigning to make Thanksgiving a national holiday.

As a prolific writer and editor of Godey's Lady's Book, she also advocated for women's education, property rights for married women, and historic preservation, notably saving Mount Vernon and helping to fund the Bunker Hill Monument.

WOW: The Boston City Council passed a resolution labeling Thanksgiving as the "National Day of Mourning" because the "colonization of North America led to the systematic destruction of the Native people."

The resolution condemns the "English colonists invasion" of Native American land. This is the second year in a row Boston has passed such a resolution.

"To the Native population in our community, Thanksgiving doesn't represent a celebration. It is a yearly haunting reminder of the devastation that was brought upon them," Councilor Benjamin Weber said
