I want to share some really amazing updates/ shoutouts from FFA State Convention in Pullman.

First, our Food Science team competed against 44 teams and did awesome (we find out team placing tonight). The members are Jessica Perez, Bryan Rosales, Antonia Hernandez, Stephanie Arreola, and Demian Garcia. Bryan Rosales even placed top 10 individuals out of 180 competitors! We find out his actual placing on stage at tonight's session.

Secondly, Angel Rincon did an amazing performance of the song "Otra Noche de Llorar" by Mon Laferte, a Chilean and Mexican artist. He sang this at the main session last night in front of thousands of FFA members, teachers, and WSU staff inside of Beasley Coliseum. We had so many compliments, texts, and people saying how he brought them to tears with his performance. Our chapter is incredibly proud of him! Be prepared to need some tissues, many tears were shed by us.

Mrs. Hemmer and 4 students attended an FFA Land Evaluation (Soils) clinic and contest last week at the Tierra Learning Center in Leavenworth. The students learned about soil science, natural resources, and how to evaluate soil quality to maximize plant growth and health. Afterwards they enjoyed some German food on the way home.

This clinic/contest was in addition to Mr. Dezellem taking students to the FFA rangeland practice contest in Omak last week (see previous post).

Brewster FFA had a busy but educational and productive week!

Last week, 11 of our FFA Students showed livestock at the Okanogan County Fair. They went home with 19 blue ribbons, 5 call back ribbons, 1 reserve grand champion ribbon for their animals and showmanship skills. In addition to their livestock showing, they placed 3rd in livestock judging, 3rd in produce judging, and 2nd in hay judging as teams!
We are extremely proud of the hard work they put in last week (even in near 100 degree temps) and in the months leading up to this event.
