Brewster Permanent Firefighters L3763

Brewster Permanent Firefighters L3763 Professional Firefighters providing Fire, Rescue, and EMS to the Town of Brewster, MA.

05/29/2026

We at Local 3763 want to thank the people of Brewster for their support and for passing the operating override, funding contracts for town employees and bringing our wages to competitive levels.

This is especially helpful to us at Local 3763, as we were previously the lowest paid firefighters on Cape Cod. We will now have competitive wages compared to surrounding departments. Allowing us to retain personnel and be more attractive to high quality recruits.

Thank you once again to the people of Brewster of making this possible.

Local 3763 is proud to serve our community.

Thank you citizens of Brewster!

We wish to extend our gratitude to the people of Brewster for their overwhelming support and votes in favor of the operating override at town meeting last week.

If this override passes at the polls as well, it will be an immense victory for everyone. As Brewster’s firefighters will be earning a competitive wage for their hard work. This goes a very long way in both retention and recruitment. It will also means important wage increases for other town employees to bring them up to par.

Once again, thank you all for your continued support for our department and firefighters.

If you can make it, we’d be happy to see you all again at the polls on Tuesday, May 19th!

Every day, the firefighters of this town answer the call. No matter the hour, no matter the emergency. From medical emergencies and fires to motor vehicle crashes and water rescues, your firefighters are there when our community needs them most.
What many people may not realize is that our department is among the lowest compensated when compared by firefighter workload to calls for service. Despite the increasing demands placed on our members, many of the firefighters protecting this town cannot afford to live in the community they proudly serve.
Our firefighters are routinely recalled back to duty to cover multiple emergencies and maintain uninterrupted care for the public. Whether it’s missing family dinners, losing sleep, or returning to the station after already completing a shift, they continue to answer the call because this community matters to them.
The proposed override is about maintaining the level of emergency service that residents expect and deserve. It is about staffing, retention, response capability, and ensuring this department can continue to provide safe, reliable emergency services for everyone in town.
We are asking the community to stand with the firefighters who stand for you.
Please support the override vote

Yesterday was yet another busy day for the Brewster Fire Department, totaling 13 responses for the 5 personnel on duty, as well as a handful of recalled off duty firefighters. These responses included multiple overlapping calls, multiple high priority medicals and a motor vehicle accident.

At 08:42AM Brewster Fire was dispatched to a priority 1 medical. All on duty personnel and one off duty firefighter responded, staffing Ambulance 1 and Ambulance 2. A full department recall was transmitted.

Minutes after arriving at the first medical, a second priority 1 medical was dispatched at 08:49AM. Ambulance 2 broke away from the incident on Harwich Rd and responded. Car 2(Deputy Chief) responded from headquarters. A second full department recall was transmitted.

While Ambulance 2 was responding to the now second high priority medical, a third medical was dispatched at 08:54AM. Mutual aid was requested from Orleans after a third full department recall was transmitted.

Not even a full minute later, a fourth medical was dispatched. Yet another full department recall was transmitted. No off duty fire fighters were available to respond and so yet again, mutual aid was requested; now from Harwich.

The rest of the day continued with multiple routine medical calls, two of which again overlapped around 09:00PM. As well as yet another Priority 1 medical around 03:30PM.

At 10:49PM, Brewster Firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 6A in West Brewster. Squad Engine 1 and Ambulance 1 responded with all 5 on duty personnel. Companies arrived to find a single vehicle accident with moderate damage. 2 individuals required transport. 1 patient was transported by Brewster Fire Ambulance 1 and the other required a mutual aid ambulance from the town of Dennis.

The rest of the shift consisted of 2 more medical calls overlapping and a residential fire alarm activation.

Throughout much of the shift yesterday, Brewster Firefighters were tasked beyond capacity and required extensive use of mutual aid and recalled off duty personnel to cover calls.

At the time of writing this, Brewster Firefighters are yet again busy with multiple ongoing calls including a Tech and Dive Rescue activation to the town of Eastham.
