I have tried to write this post a dozen times. After 14 years of ministry, Giggey Girl Gowns has lost their home. We have not, however, given up our mission of helping people be able to go to proms and other formal events on any budget. We are helping Brewer High School’s JMG group start a program. Since a Brewer High School student started this project, we are really excited to see it in the hands of other Brewer High School students. We are helping Win-Win with their prom project in the Dover location. We are in touch with a couple of other groups as well. We have a promising lead on a location for next year. When Kassidy started this project we had 20 dresses just laid out on tables at the church. Our goal that first year was to collect 100 dresses and you all helped us surpass that! When we didn’t have the right size dress for someone who had suffered a housefire and lost her dress, you all helped us raise funds to replace her dress and accessories. Macy’s donated hangers, and allowed us to be a part of their fundraising and let us have fashion shows at their location. This helped us purchase racks. We have helped so many kids afford dresses and tuxedos, jewelry, and shoes, and so many other needed items. The cost of these items has doubled since we started 14 years ago. The need is great and we hope to always be able to help in some way. Thank you all for helping us provide hundreds of kids and many adults with not only formal wear, but the confidence that looking and feeling great provides. You have helped so many kids make life long memories. Our fairy godmother volunteers did so much more than make people look great, they made sure the kids who left there felt beautiful, celebrated and special. It’s the most beautiful ministry I have ever been part of, and I thank all of you who donated and all of you who have volunteered over the years! Thanks to those of you who have “shopped” at GGG and made our dresses and tuxedos look so good! What started as my daughter’s vision became a family project, a church mission, and a community outpouring. We love you all.
