Daylight savings time....
It's coming if we do not speak up if it affects our loved ones the way it does mine.
⏰ For many families in our special needs community, a one-hour time change is never just one hour.
A child or loved one may rely on a familiar routine to feel settled and know what comes next. When the clocks change, bedtime, meals, school, work, activities, and care schedules can suddenly feel out of sync. That disruption can affect sleep, mood, behavior, and the ability to regulate emotions. Families and caregivers feel the effects, too, as they help their loved one find their rhythm again. For some, that takes far longer than a day or two.
At Kathy’s Beehive, we believe these families’ experiences deserve to be heard. If the time changes affect someone you love, please consider writing to North Carolina Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis. Tell them what it is like for your family, and ask them to support ending the twice-yearly clock changes.

You can use this message as a starting point:
“Dear Senator, I am a North Carolina constituent and the parent or caregiver of a child or loved one with special needs. The twice-yearly clock changes disrupt their routine and can affect their sleep, mood, behavior, and emotional regulation. The effects reach our whole family as we help them adjust. Please support legislation to end the clock changes and urge Senate leadership to bring it to a vote. I would appreciate hearing where you stand.”
Your family’s story can help lawmakers understand what this change really means in daily life. 🐝
