Help Us Protect Everyone's Vote!
As you are aware, November 3, elections are quickly approaching and the NAACP of Transylvania County is working to assure the elections are fair and secure. To that goal the NAACP asking people to sign up to be a non-partisan Vote Protector. Many of you have already signed up to fill a non-partisan Vote Protection slot during early voting (Oct 15-31), and for that we are grateful! We are also signing up people at each of the voting precincts on Election Day. Below is a list of precincts with a link to sign up for times to be a Vote Protector at specific precincts. Just click on the link and it will reveal what slots are available. You then sign up for one that fits your schedule.
Basically, the job is to sit in a comfortable chair (which we'll provide) outside the precinct and watch what is happening as people arrive to vote, take note of any irregularities, threats, or matters of concern, and call for help or advice if you need to. There will be 2 of you working together.
Also, it would be great if you can get a friend or family member to take one of the other slots, perhaps joining you at the time you've selected.
We will get back to everyone with several dates in the next few weeks for training and make sure you get one of the bright yellow Common Cause T-Shirts that all Vote protectors will be asked to wear. If you can't make one of the dates we're offering training, we can make sure you're trained before your date. It's pretty basic, simple stuff — who to call or what to do in various hypothetical situations.
