Meet Tor Phern-Chern, MD, featured in the October edition of Member Minute—our recurring CTMSS newsletter spotlight on the people, work, and perspectives within our TMS community.

A consultant psychiatrist and Director of the Centre for Interventional Psychiatry at National University Hospital in Singapore, Dr. Tor shares his work in precision neuromodulation and efforts to build a collaborative TMS research network across Asia-Pacific.

His practical advice for fellow members? “Measure everything, from the first patient.” Capturing meaningful data from the start can help clinicians learn from their own practice and contribute to future research.

On October 5, FACTMS celebrated the ribbon cutting of its third Neil S. Hirsch TMS Clinic at Alpert Jewish Family Service.

FACTMS-sponsored clinics provide no- to low-cost TMS treatment, expanding access to this life-changing therapy for people who may otherwise be unable to afford care. We are deeply grateful to the Neil S. Hirsch Foundation for its generous support and to Neuronetics for donating the TMS device.

FACTMS Board members Cindy Elkins and Sharon Ordover joined the celebration, along with Clinical TMS Society President-Elect Dr. Christina Hughes.

CTMSS Fellowship recognizes active members whose sustained service, leadership, and professional contributions have made a meaningful impact in TMS and the Society.

Have five or more consecutive years of eligible CTMSS membership in good standing? Review the full eligibility criteria and consider applying.

OCD Awareness Week continues through October 17—and the treatment conversation can continue all year.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder can cause significant distress and disrupt daily life. TMS, delivered using an FDA-cleared device and protocol, is an adjunctive treatment option for appropriate adults with OCD.

This week, CTMSS encourages members to connect with referral partners and share education about where TMS fits in OCD care.

Nominations are now open for the 2027 CTMSS TMS Visionary Award—our highest honor recognizing an individual whose innovation, influence, and advancement have transformed the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Nominees may be CTMSS members or non-members. Each nomination must include three letters of recommendation from current CTMSS members, including at least one Fellow or current Board member, as well as a biosketch and/or CV. Self-nominations are welcome.

All materials must be submitted by one person through the nomination form by November 11, 2026.
