Team Hunt

Team Hunt Team Hunt is the power behind The Hunt Michael Hollis Fund, a fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Team Hunt was created in January 2011 by Ellen and Michael Hollis to honor their son Hunt. Hunt has mitochondrial disease which is a chronic, genetic disorder that occurs when the mitochondria of the cell fails to produce enough energy for cell or organ function. This is associated with slow growth and developmental delays. Hunt receives many therapies including feeding, speech, occupational, and

physical therapy. He is a happy, lovable, curly headed two year old and full of life. Inspired by Hunt, we work to improve the quality of life for children who live with mitochondrial disease by supporting therapy programs. The Hunt Michael Hollis Fund, a fund of the Community Foundation of Middle TN, supports families who have loved ones with mitochondrial disease through raising awareness and money to help find a cure. Please join our efforts as we swim, bike, and run to honor children who experience challenges growing, both mentally and physically.

Yesterday we met with the Executive Director of and got to tour their first residential, sensory friendly, neuro-inclusive home. Bridge 21 is an amazing non-profit with the mission of creating, managing, and scaling residential and social opportunities for neuro-diverse adults, improving quality of life and reducing isolation. They offer life skills training, health and fitness activities, and vocational support. We love this model and hope to help expand into other cities!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Team Hunt for in Tahoe. Hunt trained for many miles with Mike along with amazing friends. Together we raised awareness and funds to help support families who have children with special needs and organizations that align with our mission. Three days and three mountain marathons was the toughest challenge so far but so rewarding. The people we met all have individual stories of their own and we learned about their “whys.” We are leaving this race with tired feet but inspired and thankful! Congratulations team! We will see you again soon!
