Today we honor and remember Functional Unit Manager Jason Pulliam. On October 15, 2021, Functional Unit Manager Jason Pulliam died in the line of duty after battling COVID-19.

Functional Unit Manager Pulliam served with the Missouri Department of Corrections for 27 years.

Today we honor and remember Sgt. Joseph Schuengel. On October 15, 2010, Sgt. Schuengel died in a helicopter crash while returning to the airport in one of the department's traffic enforcement helicopters. He had dropped off several other troopers, and was returning to the airport when the helicopter ran out of fuel. He was able to maneuver the aircraft to avoid nearby houses before crashing into a residential street.

Sgt. Schuengel served with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 17 years.

Today we honor and remember Officer Julius Moore. On October 15, 2009, Officer Julius Moore died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident nine days prior. He was responding to back up officers attempting to catch a burglary suspect when a tractor-trailer collided with his patrol car.

Officer Moore served with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for two years. He left behind his wife and three young children.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer Matthew Browning was catastrophically injured in the line of duty on October 14, 2004; he was loading a suspect into a police van when he was struck by a drunk driver, resulting in the loss of his legs.

Today we honor and remember Paramedic Michael Clarke. On October 14, 2024, Paramedic Michael Clarke suffered a cardiac event after running nine emergency calls in a 48-hour shift; he was found unresponsive at the Ambulance District.

Paramedic Clarke served with the St. Charles County Ambulance District for two years. He left behind a loving family.

We will never forget the life and legacy of Paramedic Michael Clarke.
