Luther’s Lasting Peace
by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

Cast your burden on the LORD and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. - Psalm 55:22

Martin Luther was riddled with guilt because of his sins. He tried a number of different things to ease his burden, including becoming a monk and trying to live a life of perfect piety, but nothing worked.

For years, he lived in fear of God’s judgment. The hypocrisy and immorality he saw in the Church leaders discouraged him. He exhausted himself studying, looking for answers. He wanted rest.

One of his spiritual mentors suggested that he focus solely on the life of Christ and spend his energies contemplating Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

This eventually led Luther to the lasting peace he sought. When he put his burdens at the foot of the cross — giving them to Jesus — he was finally free.

Today, over 500 years later, Luther’s lasting peace can be yours. You just need to cast all your burden of sin at the foot of the cross. When you do, Jesus will sustain you. He will never allow you to be moved.

Be open and honest with Jesus.

He will listen attentively and He will provide a solution to your problems, soothe your pain, and give you lasting peace.

Reflection:
What burdens and sins am I holding on to? Why?

I will let Jesus take them from me so I can be free to enjoy life and rest in Him.

Today’s Prayer:

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Philippians 2:9–11, NIV

Holy God, I cast the burden of my sins at the foot of the cross.

I want rest in my Savior. Please let it be so. In Christ Jesus’ Blessed Name I pray, Amen!!!

Plenty to Spare
by John Simon

In whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. - Ephesians 1:7

God’s infinite wealth is enough to solicit our awe, especially since He not only owns all material possessions, but is also the inexhaustible supply of attributes like love, compassion, and grace.

But even more awe-inspiring than God’s wealth is His generosity.

The cross demonstrated that the Lord was not stingy about offering us salvation.

He did not think about keeping it from us. He did not even think about providing it with a sprinkle here and there.

Instead, He washed us in a revitalizing downpour of grace.

Furthermore, Christ’s brand of generosity is risky.

Some people are genuinely kind givers, but because of their abundance, what they give away does not hurt them.

However, our Savior put His existence on the line. He took the death that we should suffer for our sins and He granted us everlasting life.

His munificence was not comfortable; it was painful, but He considered us worth it.

Love begets love. Grace begets grace. Our God is rich in love and in grace and has plenty to spare.

As Jesus attracted us, perhaps through others, He yearns to attract those who still don’t know Him yet — perhaps through us.

Reflection:
How does God’s grace enrich my life?

What are some practical ways that I can imitate God’s generosity?

Today’s Prayer:

The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”- Psalm 118:14-16, NIV

Dear God, Thank You for blessing me in so many ways.

Please help me pass Your grace forward.

Help me to lead others to find life and redemption in You. In Christ Jesus’ Holy Name I pray, Amen!!!

23 Dios mío,
mira en el fondo de mi corazón,
y pon a prueba mis pensamientos.

y enséñame a vivir
como quieres que yo viva.

God Sees You
by Beatrice Jean-Baptiste

“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God. “I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.” - Isaiah 40:1; Isaiah 57:18

Sometimes, if we’re honest with ourselves, we may feel abandoned by God; especially when life wounds us.

A job loss, a death, a failed marriage, or a wayward child are all examples of heart-wrenching pain that may cause us to doubt God’s goodness.

In moments like these, it’s easy to throw in the towel and quit on God because we feel forgotten and alone.

The Bible is filled with stories of people who faced great crises but still found comfort in their relationship with God. We can, too.

God knows that you are hurting and He promises to heal, restore, and comfort you.

Trust Him in the darkness to show you the light. God sees you and He cares about what you’re facing right now.

When you feel you are forgotten, know that that is a lie from the enemy. God will never leave you or forsake you. He’s always near.

At times, the pain in our lives threatens to overshadow our peace, but when we reflect on the ways God has shown His faithfulness to us, our souls are quieted and we are encouraged to hope again.

Tell God how you feel. Even if you cannot put it in words, claim this verse. He will comfort you in the silence.

Reflection:
How can I hold on to God’s promises in the midst of my pain?

Today’s Prayer:

Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. - Psalm 96:7–9, NIV

Loving Lord, Thank You for comforting me with Your presence.

Although I can’t see You, I sense You guiding me and watching over me.

Despite the pain around me, You grant me comfort. In the Blessed Name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen!!!

Isaías 25:1-5
Traducción en lenguaje actual

Canto de acción de gracias

25 Isaías dijo:

«Tú eres mi Dios.
Yo alabo y bendigo tu nombre,
porque has realizado planes admirables
que prometiste desde tiempos antiguos.

2 Has destruido las fortalezas
de nuestros enemigos,
has dejado las ciudades

es como una tormenta de invierno;

5 es como el calor del desierto.
Tú frenaste el ataque de los enemigos,
y así pusiste fin
al canto de victoria de los tiranos.

Isaiah 25:1-5
Names of God Bible

The Lord Protects the Weak

25 O Yahweh, you are my Elohim.
I will highly honor you; I will praise your name.
You have done miraculous things.
You have been completely reliable
in carrying out your plans from long ago.

2 You have turned cities into ruins,
fortified cities into piles of rubble,
and foreigners’ palaces into cities that will never be rebuilt.

3 That is why strong people will honor you,
and cities ruled by the world’s tyrants will fear you.

4 You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the rain, and shade from the heat.
(A tyrant’s breath is like a rainstorm against a wall,

5 like heat in a dry land.)
You calm the uproar of foreigners.
The song of tyrants is silenced
like heat that is reduced by the shadow of a cloud.
