Did you know that you are supporting local youth artists when you take a class or buy Mud Lab art? 2 summers ago, I started as an outreach project to promote student art inclusion in our galleries and local businesses! Yesterday, we popped up at in preparation for our print festival in June! 🐝🧙‍♀️💥

If you come by the lab on the weekends, you might find the highly skilled hands of Aurora spinning her sculptural creations in clay! She’s about to graduate high school and I can only imagine the possibilities of her future pathways in art. Amazing work!

It’s been an amazing couple months building this tactile arts space! What I have loved most is seeing older and younger people connect through clay and plaster and watching people bond together! Glazing experiments are happening in the lab! This is a layer of flux followed back mirror black glaze. The flux helps the glaze flow, and with some trickery with the kiln firing schedule, crystalline blooms can happen. Leaning more into this in my own personal work. ✨

This weekend there will be back to back opportunities to create with mud! Saturday we’ll have a DIY Wall Resurfacing workshop to help educate homeowners on how to smooth out and plaster over existing textured walls. Sunday is Drop In Clay Day! https://bit.ly/4vmZn6o
