Bikes build community. And community changes lives.

On June 6, we're joining forces with The Cycle Effect and Outer Range for a full day of riding, learning, and celebrating the women and girls who show up on two wheels.

Ride Together: The Cycle Effect Community Bike & Film Fest kicks off at noon with free community rides on Frisco Peninsula (MTB) and Summit Sports Lab (road). The afternoon brings trail clinics, tire-changing relays, bike games, and injury prevention — plus a vendor village and raffle. Cap the night with a film screening of Women on Bikes.

This is a fundraiser for The Cycle Effect. It's also just a really great day to be outside in Summit County. All levels. All welcome.

Today, the Summit Foundation honors the life and legacy of Meg Lass.

Meg helped shape not only our organization, but our community. As the Summit Foundation’s first female Board President, she helped create the logo, tagline "Soul of the Summit" and voice that continue to guide our mission today.

Her leadership and creativity could be seen in projects and community traditions like the Summit Uncovered Calendar, Summit Pioneers, the Festival of Film, and countless campaigns, conversations, and collaborations that brought people together and strengthened this community.

But beyond the events, ideas, and accomplishments, Meg will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, curiosity, and her incredible ability to listen. She made people feel seen, valued, and inspired to contribute their own gifts to the community around them.

Meg believed deeply in the power of storytelling, philanthropy, and human connection, and Summit County is better because of it.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for September 16, 2026, at the Eclipse Theater in Breckenridge, serving as the kickoff to the annual Festival of Film she co-founded in 1980.

Thank you, Meg, for helping shape the soul of this community.

Running a nonprofit in Summit County takes more than passion — it takes knowing your numbers. 📊

Last week, local nonprofit leaders gathered for our first Nonprofit Finance Lab session on Foundations & Internal Controls, and the room was buzzing with questions, and conversations with real world examples.

Because here at the Summit Foundation, we believe our job doesn't end with writing a check. We're here to help our local nonprofit community build the knowledge, systems, and connections they need to serve our changing mountain community.

✅ Registration is now open for Session 2 — June 17: Bookkeeping Fundamentals
Whether you're brand new to nonprofit finances or just want a solid refresh, this is your session.

Meet Sebastian

Between accelerated classes and a full schedule of volunteering, this Summit High School senior has learned how to make the most of every opportunity—already turning college into a fast-moving path forward.

It was FirstBank’s financial literacy classes that helped everything click. Sebastian saw how understanding financial resources can open doors—especially for first-generation and entrepreneurial communities.

He’s driven to use that knowledge to help others achieve dreams they may not have thought possible on a paycheck.

This year, the Summit Foundation supported 147 students in pursuing their dreams—whatever the path. We are investing in the next generation of Summit County’s workforce and community. If you’d like to be part of that impact, learn more or reach out:

Meet Ashley

A Summit High School senior and first-generation college-bound student, Ashley has embraced opportunities to try new things and push beyond her comfort zone. Taking a welding class wasn’t about finding a passion—it was about building confidence and learning to take on new challenges.

That mindset has shaped how she approaches her future. Inspired by her younger sister, Ashley hopes to lead by example—showing that when you put yourself out there, new possibilities open up.

With the support of the Pre Collegiate program, Ashley has gained both the skills and the perspective to see what’s possible—and the understanding that a community’s generosity can help make those possibilities real.

Her advice: don’t be afraid to try. Growth begins the moment you step outside your comfort zone.

This year, the Summit Foundation supported 147 students in pursuing their dreams—whatever the path. We are investing in the next generation of Summit County’s workforce and community. If you’d like to be part of that impact, learn more or reach out:

Meet Dylan

A Summit High School senior, avid climber, and multi-sport athlete, Dylan combines academic rigor with a deep connection to the outdoors. It was Summit High School’s Water Ecology class that sparked Dylan’s interest in fish and mountain ecosystems, showcasing how education can go far beyond the basics. Experiences like this inspire students not only to pursue work they are passionate about, but to bring that passion back home to strengthen the community that shaped them.

Dylan plans to pursue environmental science and give back by protecting the landscapes that have influenced his life. “Take full advantage of every opportunity—life is short and meant to be fully lived.”

This year, the Summit Foundation supported 147 students in pursuing their dreams—whatever the path. We are investing in the next generation of Summit County’s workforce and community. If you’d like to be part of that impact, learn more or reach out
