Mountain H.O.P.E. Foundation Horses Offering People Empowerment
We are a non-profit hippotherapy program helping children with disabilites.

The method of hippotherapy has proven so beneficial because the movement is variable, rhythmic and repetitive as a result of the horse's walk. This walk is similar to human movement patterns of the pelvis while walking. Hippotherapy can improve balance, posture, mobility and function and can also affect psychological, cognitive, behavioral and communication functions.

It's with sad hearts that we announce Taylor won't be returning to HOPE this season. At 33 years old, he is finally ready to spend his remaining days grazing in the pasture. Please LIKE to say THANK YOU to this sweet horse who has given so selflessly to his kids, volunteers and care takers over the years. He told us he will miss his kiddos very much, but is glad he was given the opportunity to help make a difference in their lives!

We love you Taylor and we will miss you every day!

Just as we were beginning to think the warm weather last week meant Spring was FINALLY here, the horses woke up to almost 10" of fresh snow at the barn. Everyone better quit those snow dances so that the horses can get outside, shed those fur 'blankets' and get ready for those kiddos to come in June!

Proper riding position is crucial to getting the correct results!

Elasticity of the contact is crucial and this cannot not be achieved with locked elbows and stiff arms . The horse is a moving object and unless the rider can absorb resistance in the bridle and not set the arm and shoulders against it , the horse will only increase its own force against you and match the riders lack of elasticity .
