Meet Maisie Bryant, 2026 TEDxBreckenridge speaker.

Maisie is a 13-year-old from Summit County who first stepped on a TEDx stage at Summit Middle School, and won. Off stage, she's a competitive figure skater who performs in ice shows. On stage, she's using her voice to talk about social anxiety: what it feels like, how she manages it, and why she wants other kids (and adults) to know they're not alone in it.

Presenting in front of a crowd still makes her nervous. She's doing it anyway.

Fun fact: a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope.

Fitting, since our favorite memories from past events are exactly that, a bunch of individual moments that somehow add up to something bigger. The lobby conversations. The nervous speaker pacing backstage. The applause that goes on just a little too long (the good kind).

Meet Chris Ray, 2026 TEDxBreckenridge speaker.

Chris is a research scientist with the Institute for Bird Populations and the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research at CU Boulder. For 39 years, she's studied American pikas, the small, rock-dwelling mammals some call "rock rabbits," to understand how they respond to a changing climate.

Like a pika, Chris lives in a stone house high in the Rockies. Unlike a pika, she spends most of her days at a computer, one eye on her students' research and the other on the wildlife outside her window.

We're excited to introduce Kurt Kionka, one of our 2026 TEDxBreckenridge speakers.

Kurt is the Project Director for the Colorado Department of Transportation, where he leads the I-70 Floyd Hill to Veterans Memorial Tunnels Project, an eight-mile bottleneck that engineers considered impossible to fix for decades.

His talk breaks down the mindset shift that got the project moving: replacing "no, because" with "yes, if," a discipline that forced engineers, environmentalists, and everyone in between to find the condition that made the impossible possible.

We're excited to introduce Anna DeBattiste, one of our 2026 TEDxBreckenridge speakers.

Anna joined Summit County Rescue Group as a volunteer rescuer back in 2002, after realizing she could be cold, miserable, and exhausted for free and for a purpose, instead of paying to do it in adventure races. Today she also volunteers with the Colorado Search and Rescue Association, handling everything from public education to fundraising.

Her talk gets at what actually keeps people showing up for this work, year after year, unpaid.

We're excited to introduce Oakley Van Oss, one of our 2026 TEDxBreckenridge speakers.

With 27 years in public education, Oakley has designed learning experiences everywhere from the Green River to Costa Rica and Peru. At Summit High School, he teaches construction and welding, and spends the rest of his time building bridges between students, community members, and industry partners.

His whole career comes down to one thing: helping young people find confidence, purpose, and belonging through real experiences and real relationships.
