Christ Lutheran Church - Brea, CA Christ Lutheran Church & School has faithfully served Brea, California, and the surrounding North Orange County Community, since 1962.

We proclaim the Good News of Jesus, and strive to love and serve others! Christ Lutheran Church and School is part of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (www.LCMS.org), located in the Pacific Southwest District of the LCMS (www.psd-lcms.org). What We Believe:

Trinity
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This triune God is the only true God. Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, the second person of the Trinity. He was born into this world of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on the cross for the sins of the world; and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He then rose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven and will return again. We believe that there is no salvation apart from God's grace and faith in Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 2:5-6; Galatians 4:4-5; 1 John 2:2; Acts 4:12

Holy Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Acts 10:43

Salvation
We believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is truly a gift from God and is not the result of our good works or any human effort. Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; Galatians 2:16; Titus 2:4-7

Sin
We believe human beings first sinned long ago, among the first two people God created, Adam and Eve - and this sin resulted in the destruction of the relationships between God and His people; between human beings; and between us and the world in which we live. Every person is born with sin (original) and continues to sin (actual) by breaking God's Law during their life. Genesis 3:1-21; 1 John 3:4; Psalm 51:19; Matthew 15:19

Sacraments
We believe there are two sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. Lutherans believe that a sacrament is instituted by Christ Himself, has visible means, uses the Word of God, and offers the forgiveness of sins. Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 10:16

Baptism
We believe baptism is an act of God in which He makes a person His own. Since the action is completely an undeserved gift on the part of God and since everyone, including infants, is part of this sinful world, there are no restrictions on the age of baptism. A person is baptized into the Christian Faith, not into any particular denomination. Therefore, the Lutheran Church accepts as valid baptism of any denomination so long as it is done with water and in the name of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-39; John 3:5-6; Titus 3:5-7; Mark 16:16

Holy Communion
We believe Holy Communion (also known as the Lord's Supper, the Eucharist, the Sacrament of the Altar) is the true body and blood of the Lord in, with, and under the bread and w**e given and shed on the cross for the remission of sins. In this sacrament together with the forgiveness, God gives all other blessings as well, that is "life and salvation." Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 11:27-29; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 1 John 1:7

Church
We believe we are part of the Holy Christian Church as confessed in the three Ecumenical Creeds: the Apostles', the Nicene, the Athanasian Creeds. We understand the Holy Christian Church to consist of all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Ephesians 5:25-27; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 2:19-22; Ephesians 4:3-6

Repentance
We believe repentance is an act of faith by which the sinner has sorrow for their sin, confesses that sin, asks for forgiveness, and turns away from sin. Repentant sinners who are sorry for their sins and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior are forgiven. Psalm 51:17; Acts 3:19; Psalm 32:5; John 20:22-23

Sanctification
We believe the Holy Spirit sanctifies us (makes us holy) by bringing us to faith in Jesus Christ so that we might partake of the blessings of redemption. The Holy Spirit also guides, directs, and empowers the believer to lead a godly life. Good works are properly understood as coming as a result of the grace God has already given us. Christians do good things in service to other people because God has enabled them to; they are already forgiven and secure in their adoption as God's children for eternal life. Good works do not earn God's favor.

Do you REALLY believe what Jesus says? ✝️

It's easy to say we trust God when everything is going well.

But what about when life gets difficult?

When things don't go according to plan?

When we're faced with suffering, uncertainty, or even death?

Jesus tells us, “Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:25)

And that brings us to an important question.

Do we believe Him?

The Christian life isn't about how much we've accomplished or how many good things we've done.

It's about faith.

It's about trusting Jesus Christ and the promises He has made to us.

And what a promise He has given!

Even in the face of death, we have the assurance of everlasting life through our crucified and risen Savior.

Not because of anything we've done to earn it, but because of what Jesus has already done for us.

So the question remains:

Who are you trusting with your life? ❤️

The book is always better than the movie.

Right? 📚🎬

Well, Mrs. Patrice Molle and Carl Perr might have to agree to disagree on that one! 😂

Our First Grade teacher absolutely LOVES reading.

In fact, she's passed that love along to her entire family! Her children love reading so much that sometimes they have to be reminded to put the books down and go outside. Even her husband, who wasn't much of a reader when they got married, has become a book lover.

And if you know anything about Mrs. Molle, you probably won't be surprised by the book she brought to Staff Spotlight…

Jurassic Park! 🦖

She explains how the original novel goes much deeper into the science, the characters, and the story behind the park than the movie has time to explore.

But does that automatically make the book better?

Carl isn't so sure. 😂

“Christianity without Christ is worthless.”

Those are powerful words.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran pastor and theologian who was executed by the N***s during World War II, once warned:

“Christianity without the living Christ is inevitably Christianity without discipleship, and Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.”

And as we hear in this sermon, the conclusion is simple.

Christianity without Christ is worthless.

Our faith isn't just about calling ourselves Christians. It isn't simply about showing up at church or knowing the right things to say.

It's about Jesus Christ.

The living Savior who died for our sins, rose again, and calls us to follow Him.

We don't earn our salvation by following Jesus. Salvation is God's gift, given freely through faith in Christ.

But the faith that receives that gift is a faith centered on Him, trusting His promises and following where He leads.

Because without Jesus Christ, there is no Christianity. ✝️

“Me too. I love Jesus.”

For Mrs. Patrice Molle, those few words were sometimes about all she felt comfortable saying about her faith during her 15 years teaching in public schools.

She remembers students excitedly sharing things happening in their churches or raising their hands during Thanksgiving discussions to say they were thankful for God.

And while she wanted to share in that excitement, Patrice felt she had to be extremely careful about how she responded.

She loved teaching. But at work, she felt her faith and her profession had to remain separate.

That's one of the things that makes teaching at Christ Lutheran so meaningful to her. ✝️

Now, Patrice can openly share God's Word with her First Grade students. She can talk about Jesus. She can pray with her class every single day.

And she doesn't have to separate her love of teaching from her love for her Savior.

For Mrs. Molle, that's one of the greatest blessings of being part of Christ Lutheran.

God's grace is free. But it wasn't cheap. ✝️

The greatest gift we have ever received came at the greatest cost.

God gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

That's the incredible love of our God.

And yet, how often do we take that gift for granted?

How often do we put God on a shelf, only turning to Him when we need something?

In His conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus reveals the loving and giving heart of God. The very Son of God was standing before Nicodemus, and that same Savior would go to the cross and rise again for our salvation.

This is the gift we are called to remember every day.

Not just during worship on Sunday morning.

Not just when life gets difficult.

But every morning when we wake up, throughout our days, and in the way we live.

We cannot earn God's grace. Christ has already won our salvation.

But what a blessing it is to live each day in gratitude for what He has done for us! ❤️

Did you know our First Grade teacher is OBSESSED with dinosaurs?! 🦖😂

For Mrs. Patrice Molle, it all started with one movie.

Jurassic Park.

Not one of the newer movies. The ORIGINAL. From 1993!

When the movie first came out, Patrice's grandmother and older brother took her to see it in theaters.

And from that moment on, she was hooked.

She couldn't stop thinking about it. She couldn't stop talking about it. She absolutely loved it!

And apparently, that childhood excitement never really went away. 🦕

Give more money to the church, and God will make you rich?

Not quite. ✝️

Pastor Eric Clausen takes on the prosperity gospel, the idea that if you give enough money to God, He'll reward you with even more money in return.

Maybe you'll get a raise. Maybe you'll inherit a fortune from a long-lost Uncle Bob. 😂

But that's not what faithful giving is about.

As Pastor Eric explains, giving isn't a transaction where we try to trade something with God to get something better.

It's an act of trust.

And that trust is grounded in something far greater than a promise of financial wealth.

Jesus tells us, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

God has already given us the greatest gift through His Son, Jesus Christ. We belong to Him, and He promises to care for us.

We don't give to make God bless us.

We give because He already has. ❤️

“I don't think I could handle middle school kids.” 😂

Well…Mrs. Patrice Molle says she probably could. She just prefers the little ones!

And there's a reason she loves teaching First Grade. ❤️

First graders are excited about EVERYTHING!

They love coming to school. They love their teachers. They love learning. And so many of the things they experience in the classroom are happening for the very first time.

For Mrs. Molle, getting to share in that excitement is what makes teaching First Grade so special.

And yes…it's a little different from teaching fifth grade. 😂
