Major shoutout to for sponsoring our recent New Laws Workshop.

We’re incredibly grateful to be supported by small businesses like Penny Pound Ice, companies that are of the community and genuinely want to see restaurants thrive.

Where you spend your dollars matters. Choose vendors who show up and do good.

Don’t just talk about it, be about it. Organizing works if we want to make this city an easier place to run our restaurants then we have to make it happen ourselves.

Take a few moments, fill the survey and let’s get things done

We were in the room where it happened!

IHC President Eddie Navarrete ( ) was present as Governor Newsom signed AB 592 and AB 671 into law.

Assemblymember Gabriel’s bill, AB 592, supports California community restaurants by cutting red tape and maximizing their ability to offer outdoor dining. This important measure also enables open-kitchen restaurants to fully leverage California’s exceptional climate by permitting windows, folding doors, or non-fixed storefronts.

AB 671, helps small restaurants open faster by cutting unnecessary red tape while preserving critical health and safety protections. The bill creates a voluntary, expedited path for permitting small, independent restaurants seeking to retrofit existing spaces — allowing licensed architects and engineers to self-certify simple plans while maintaining all required inspections and safety checks.

Eddie has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to champion these bills. If you have ever wondered why you should support the Ihc, the proof is in the pudding in y’all.

We are in Sacramento fighting for our city and for our restaurants.

We cannot wait to celebrate this victory tonight at our Asada with . Come toast this huge win with us while also supporting our continued work! Tickets in bio.

We want to wish our amazing Executive Director and Co-Founder Eddie () the happiest birthday.

Eddie is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to opening hospitality businesses in this city. Many of your favorite restaurants were guided through the insane red tape of Los Angeles by this fella here.

On top of that, Eddie advocates for independent restaurants harder than anyone. Many don’t know, but Eddie often spends his own hard earned money to fly to Sacramento to make sure small businesses are being heard from. Eddie has no restaurant, he does this because it’s the right thing to do.

In dark times like these, it’s so important to celebrate those that you care for really hard. Take them to your favorite bar or restaurant, go around the table saying your favorite things about them and share memories.

Drop Eddie a Happy Birthday message or make a contribution to the IHC in his name if you’re able. Our city and state are better places because Eddie was born.

(Oh, and if you are wondering, yes, that’s the guy that played Ferdinand the bull in the 1989 production at an elementary school in El Paso)
